dreamcatcher, there's no pattern to when they get a new Mimi. :) Contracts are generally for six months to a year. Keep in mind that this show has been running for close to 9 years on Broadway, plus there were two equity national tours, a Canadian cast, and for the past few years, several non-equity casts. So, that's a lot of Mimis! :)

With out a doubt Maya Days. I didn't see DRV I assume she was brilliant. Maya was the real deal. Also I love feel it her #1 hit single.

O and i heard that she is probably not gonna be in the movie. Anyone got clarification on that?

Rosario Dawson will be mimi in the movie.

I personally think Daphne Rubin-Vega was the best. Also, I recently saw the RENT tour and the girl who play Mimi was pretty good.

I saw Maya Days and Laura Dias, and I think Maya was better. LOL.

Maya/Laura was the best. And I've seen 14 different ones and heard bootlegs of the rest.

Shosh would make a good Maureen, any one else agree?

I've probably answered this already, but Karmine, hands down. She overwhelms me. She has the most powerful voice, she's gorgeous, she has so much passion, and she's really sweet and funny when you talk to her. I flipped a **** when I got an email saying Karmine was going to be playing Mimi again
