Crazy to think this almost went to Bway but was cancelled by covid. I’m glad too — it wasn’t ready.
I saw it in Boston and enjoyed it, however the female lead gave one of the worst performances I’ve ever seen on stage. Perhaps it was an off night but she was wooden, had a horrid accent, and strange line readings.

They were midway through their first day of tech at the Lyceum when they got the call to stop working. Even the cast album released a few weeks later is officially labeled “Original Broadway Cast.”
Saw this a bunch at NYTW and then in Boston—I think it’s an excellent show, and they did a decent amount of work on it for Boston that helped it soar. The demand just never seemed to be there, but glad it’s going to London.
Reminds me of the similar timing of The Secret Life of Bees, another 2019 Off-Broadway musical destined for Broadway that never materialized beyond an eventual London run. Interesting to see how the landscape has changed in 5 years. Crazy to think of what the industry would be like if Covid had never happened.

it's Enda Walsh, not Edna. feels like an autocorrect fail?
