It's been a top ten grossing show every week since it started previews so ... A lot.

"17"

16 actually.  One of the 17 during Grand Jury testimony admitted he was coerced.

It's atrocious. Truly. It's a convoluted mess of a show that has some special effects that are fun enough to blind everyone's opinions. They've turned a pale, dramatic story and movie, into an ugly, colorful, ridiculous romcom. The writing is awful. The acting is worse.

I personally loved it.

Lots of people loved it, many liked it, and many here and in the press hated it.  I thought it was better in Boston, but enjoyed well enough on Broadway.

I only saw the Broadway production.  I hated it.  Really didn't care for Matthew Morrison particularly - just dull.  I thought the score was particularly abysmal - not a single decent song. I usually can find something worthwhile in almost any production - It has one truly awesome special effect - but, for me, that is not a worthwhile night at the theater.

15, now. Sadly, one of those girls had unprotected masturbation looking at the Playbill and died.

I thought the exact same thing.

Ticket sales =/= enjoyment/thinking it was good. Ticket sales show how many people are interested in seeing the show, not how many like it.

Except if the people seeing it ALL hated it, word of mouth would effect the upcoming sales.  Obviously, enough people ARE liking it enough to tell others to see it.

I'm clearly among the silent minority here on the board who thought FINDING NEVERLAND should have been one of the 4 shows nominated for Best Musical this year. In terms of pure entertainment value and wow moments that put a huge grin on my face, I'd put this show miles ahead of THE VISIT and probably above SOMETHING ROTTEN as well.

There's certainly some crappy lyric writing here and some nutty choreography and ugly set design too, but there was a sweetness of intent throughout, and a chance to the explore the elusive nature of artistic imagination that I enjoyed immensely. And there were passages that really took flight (the magical day in the park, the creation of Hook out of Barrie's tortured mind, the final performance in the bedroom) that reminded me of why Musical Theater is for me the most potent form of storytelling I know. I'm bringing my husband back with me to see the show again in 2 weeks-- can't wait.

Ah, if only "sweetness of intent" could woo Tony voters.

Or anyone who has good taste in musical theatre.

I haven't seen it yet, but I heard the ending is great and that they wished it could've been like that for the entire show. Reminded me of Rocky. Everyone said the last 30 minutes were great, but the show leading up to it was okay. I went in with very low hopes, but I actually really enjoyed Rocky. I wonder if I went in with low hopes, I might like FN as well. But to be honest, I have no interest in seeing it. That Tony performance didn't leave me wanting more.

" Anybody who has good taste in musical theather"

Like the Drama Desk or Drama League award voters who did nominate the show and some of the actors ?

No use fighting it, Sunny.  A lot of posters on here who don't accept difference of opinions.

They go straight to the put downs.   A pretty sad statement on our society nowadays.

Would have expected better on a theater discussion board.

Oh well.

Me and my friend left during intermission. We didn't care for it.

Surely we should distinguish between whether it was any good and whether we enjoyed it?

I enjoy the occasional kebab but I wouldn't put it on my top ten eating experiences.

BTW sad news on the fan count- 12 of the remaining fans have succumbed to a saccharine overdose.  The government is looking into a preservation on the last remaining examples of the species.

I loved it, and I don't accept the idea that if I love a show you hate, then I have bad taste in musical theatre. I've seen tons of shows. I hated Gigi and didn't care for Something Rotten, while others swear by those shows. It was a great night of entertainment and I haven't stopped humming the songs in a long while.
