Graciela Daniele will direct, Ann Reinking will artistic direct, Kathryn Doby will recreate choreography, and Nicole Fosse will advise the Broadway revival of Bob Fosse's DANCIN', which will hit the Rialto in Spring, 2009, following a tryout in Toronto.

I saw the original & will see this if possible.
Although I doubt it will happen, I would like a DVD like Fosse
Wow! Pretty neat. Can't wait to see what dancers will get cast.
I would say that it might be a good idea to insert some more recent songs into the show, but it doesn't seem likely with Ann Reinking only serving as artistic director.
Not that re-creating Fosse's choreography isn't still a very, very good idea.
Wow. Never thought this would happen.
This is crazy good! I was there when the original DANCIN opened in Boston ( and returned two nights later--it was so good!) Saw it seven times in total. I thought that when FOSSE came out, we would never see DANCIN again. Can't wait!!!!!
Having seen both Dancin' and Fosse, I found the two to be very similar in content and format.
Here's hoping that with Kathy Doby's involvement we'll have a more Fosse-infused production that FOSSE lacked in doses (even the dancers stated this). Kathy can't do no wrong -- EVER!
Curious if this will be a recreation of the original 1978 production or an updated version as the original was a true time-capsule of it's time: pure late 70's.
This brought back memories of the original production. 1978-79. Broadhurst Theatre. W. 44th Street. A CHORUS LINE next door at the Shubert. Seeing Bob and Nicole Fosse frequently around the area. I was 13 years old.

Snore. We've seen it all before.
For me, FOSSE was confusing as to what shows the excerpts were from--the dancing just tumbled out in one continuous medley. It would have helped if there were electronic signs at each side of the stage identifying the shows, similar to the signs in GYPSY identifying what town or venue the vaudeville and strip numbers were playing. I hope DANCIN' considers doing this.
I am excited bec. I will get a chance to see this in my lifetime ...Thanks that it got revived ! I was just a kid when this played on Broadway /Rialto .

Wow!
It's a shame Gwen isn't here anymore to help serve as an artistic advisor, as she did with FOSSE.
The song list on IBDB for the original production does not look very interesting. I hope they add a more memorable song or two.

CATSNYrevival - how can they add new songs? Bob Fosse is dead. He can't create new choreography from the grave.
Gypsy9 - the songs in DANCIN' aren't "from" anything. They are popular songs from different eras - big band, jazz, rock,, etc.
omg i'm so excited!
Alot of the best material from DANCIN' was recreated for FOSSE. So much so in fact that you could almost have said that FOSSE was a revival of DANCIN.' I kind of think we've been there and done that with Fosse over the past few years, but I suppose this could be interesting with the right cast.

What is the difference between Artistic Director and advisor?
Obviously, if they were to add new songs I wasn't suggesting that they make up new choreography. There's plenty of material in the Fosse canon to pull from.

Right cast? They'll probably be pulling all the winners and losers of the past 4 seasons of SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE. Do you think any of these kids even know his name? sigh.

- But wasn't the point of DANCIN' to be non-showtunes? It wouldn't work if they threw ALL THAT JAZZ and BIG SPENDER in with that mix.
With all due respect, I think it's time that some OTHER choreographers get some attention: Michael Bennett, Gower Champion, Peter Gennaro, Bob Alton, Jack Cole, Tommy Tune, Agnes DeMille...as well as Jerome Robbins and Bob Fosse.
Alas, I don't think there is any record of Busby Berkeley's choreography for his 1920s shows.
I'd rather see a cavalcade of the history of great Broadway dancing than yet another look at JUST Fosse.
I totally agree Master. Fosse has had more than enough attention the last decade and there are many other choreographer/directors who are more deserving of current revival attention.

What! A! Bore!
Wake me when these four get around to doing a Pippin revival.
I saw the touring company in Philadelphia and wasn't crazy about it. I kept noticing flaws. The cast I saw wasn't in sync at all times and it just threw it off for me. However, I will see it again if I have the chance with this different cast.
