I accept messages. Maybe you should learn how BWW works. I've been messaging with folks like Sutton all thru the pandemic. :)

And by the way, you continue to spout out the garbage you hear on Faux News, and spread your BS and conspiracy theories. If you hate the state of Broadway so much, do us all a favor and stop commenting here. No one wants to hear from you.

I know people love to go on about, “the science”/“very low transmissible risk”/blah blah blah, but….

…who cares? It’s a simple rule that is easy to follow. Just sit there. I don’t care if there CDC comes out and says there’s a zero percent chance of me catching a variant in a Broadway theatre, if the rule is to wear a mask the whole time, just do it.

Maybe it’s because I was raised to follow basic instructions. I also don’t find it difficult to shut the hell up for 2.5 hours, but that seems to be a real issue for some as well, so what do I know.

I am big. It’s the REVIVALS that got small.

When you purchase tickets from telecharge you consent to doing this (and are sent multiple email reminders). We are not trying to be the mean people… we are are just their to enforce these rules to because we want Broadway to stay open.

A majority of us have worked in the industry for a long time and have not been able to find jobs (in our field) at the moment so we are strictly doing this because we love Broadway.

Please don’t call us names. The names I’ve been called by patrons are disgusting. We are humans with real feelings and emotions.

Again, We are just trying to enforce the rules, we need Broadway to stay open.

I did take mine off a few times for a brief break or to have a drink but never had it off for more than maybe 5 minutes at a time. (Plus stepping outside for a few minutes at intermission). From what I could tell pretty much everyone kept theirs on other than to eat/drink and I didn’t see any ushers say anything. I did miss the pre-show announcement though cause my dad was mistaken about what street the theatre was on, so we were a bit later in getting there than we intended, so we only made it into the theatre like 5 minutes before the performance began. All in all a good experience and the show was absolutely unreal, one of the absolute best I have ever seen.

Do you want a medal? Because you don't deserve one. Keep the damn thing on the entire time. In those 5 minutes, you could've gotten or transmitted the virus multiple times. Stay home if you can't follow the rules.
"

I definitely over estimated so I apologize. I did take it off a few times but it was to have a drink and catch a breath at the same time. Which IS ALLOWED. The rule is wear one unless drinking or eating. Don’t be rude.

People are responding to you emphatically because you keep changing what you said. Originally you said this:

"I did take mine off a few times for a brief break or [bolding mine] to have a drink but never had it off for more than maybe 5 minutes at a time. "

So you've amended that you only had it off for 2 or 3 minutes (which is still too long), and now you're saying you never took it off just for a "brief break". You are not allowed to take your mask off. You can lift it, or pull it aside to take a quick sip - then it goes back on.

I read that you have sensory issues, and I know that must be challenging. Good luck with that.

" I yanked a bag of Twizzlers from a person's hand once at Pippin and threw them under my seat. She didn't say a damn word. Perhaps she realized that open mouthed chewing for 45 minutes isn't polite."

Neither is theft and littering.

Stoptheworld83, you’re finding ways to flaunt the rules and take your mask down and making excuses for your behavior in a global pandemic that’s killed over 4 million people. I think you’ll find it is YOU who is being rude.

I pulled it down under my chin, had a drink of water, then put it back on. When I was thirsty again I did the same thing. I don’t know the exact amount of time I had it off. I did not have a timer running cause to me the most important thing was paying attention to the performance. (Which really should be the most important thing for everyone in the audience, if you’re gonna pay the money to be there...)

Excuse me but how is removing my mask TO HAVE A DRINK when all of the rules indicate people ARE ALLOWED TO REMOVE THEIR MASKS TO EAT OR DRINK being selfish??

I took it off WHEN I WAS THIRSTY AND NEEDED A DRINK. Then I PUT IT BACK ON. I get thirsty easily even without a mask on and more so with one. I saw many other people do the exact same thing. And clearly you aren’t yelling at and accusing them. So please stop accusing me. At no point at any time when I was in the theatre did anyone (usher or other audience members) seem to have an issue with anything I was doing.

It always amazes me that some people can't survive in a 2-3 hours' performance without eating or drinking.

How come at the nearby Duane Reade or CVS you can get boxes of candy that are just loose inside, but at the theatre there's a little plastic bag inside the box to have to crinkle open!?

And don't get me started on that one show - I want to say Movin' Out? - that sold popcorn. Boggles my mind.

Hi all!

I posted this out of frustration one night because of the way people were acting in the theatre.  I definitely did not mean for it to become a huge political discussion.  I wish it were getting better, but it isn't people still refuse to wear masks correctly.  No one cares and it upsets me.

On another note, I attended David Byrne's American Utopia last night and this was my first time in a Jujamcyn house, my goodness they have no control over it whatsoever.  Masks were off the entire time and the "monitors" there were touching your phone to check things (like just ask for me to make the image bigger, don't touch it).  Idk.. I was very uneasy in that theatre.. They had NO ONE coming around checking masks just someone held up a mask on sign 2 min before curtain.

Oh man, that's disappointing. A friend of mine from work entered lotto in its first week for American Utopia and said he wanted that to be his reintroduction to a theatre. He was apprehensive going in, but said the crowd was really good about keeping masks on and he felt very reassured. Maybe it was a matter of him lucking out with a mindful crowd that night, and not necessarily the staff.

Again, thank you for what you do and I'm sorry it sucks!

We care on this website. We care deeply for theater, care about keeping it open, and follow the rules inside the theater. I know this is a small amount of people Im talking about, but people really do care. Im so sorry this is happening.

This is why the name “Karen” found its new life. There never was a male name counterpart.

Yeah - it’s Donald Trump.

If not for him you might not have the vaccine by now.You can deny it but it is true.

Listen. If T**** didn’t throw out the pandemic response playbook that was last updated when Obama handled Ebola - which T**** and his team admit to throwing out when they got into office - Covid would not have become the pandemic that it is in the US. T****’s admin admitted they were ordered to throw it out because he hates everything associated with Obama, and as a result they had no clue what to do.

Did Ebola take the amount of US lives that Covid has? Stop the US economy and bring us into a depression? No. The playbook had the resources to nip this in the bud like Obama did with Ebola and we all could have been thriving. But instead T**** chose ignorance and chaos.

Any progress out of the pandemic now is in spite of him handicapping the US.

Audience at Chix and Biscuits was very mundful, and it certainly helped the ushers were very proactive going in.

I attended 3 shows this weekend. I was pleasantly suprised to see no real infractions to mask wearing. A few reminders, a few under the noses....but I saw no one flagrantly removing their masks, even in the bare of currently eating/drinking. Overall, I've been quite pleased with what I've seen all over Manhatten!
