I believe that this person is the only one.
Who is the only Tony winner currently appearing as a REPLACEMENT in a Broadway production.
I think this is pretty easy, but not for those who don't know or don't know how to easily find out:)
************This question was wrong Chris pointed out that there were in fact TWO prior Tony winners currently as Broadway replacements......
can you name the two before seeing the correct answers below?:)

Do you count Ben Davis as the new Graydon in Millie? He received a "tony honor" for the cast album of La Boheme. Didn't know if that's really what you're looking for though.

Tom Bosley won the Tony Award for his performance in FIORELLO! He is now on CABARET.
right you are Madam Pop:)

Okay, now what's my prize???? An evening with Patrick Wilson?
Hold the phone! I think the lovely Leslie Uggams, Tony winner for Hallelujah, Baby! and now starring in Thoroughly Modern Millie, might beg to differ!

I know she isn't in Urinetown. I got her and Amy Spanger confused.
Chris, of course you are right!!!
two former Tony winners as current replacements, unless there is another I am missing.
Dollypop we may consider awarding you dinner with Mr. Wilson, as long as you send him to me for dessert:)

Teacher, I would like to ask you to reveal your sources, please.
I refuse to believe there are only 2 Tony winners currently acting as REPLACEMENTS on Broadway.
(Where have we heard that before?) LOL.
Interesting little factoid, good job Teacher.
Yours for an better Broadway!

1) This little quiz is dumb--the "teacher" who started it was obviously very misinformed. There are at least FOUR, not ONE.
2) "Enchanted April" replacement Jane Adams is a Tony winner
3) Yes, Ben Davis counts as a Tony winner, making it four
4) Can we find better things to do with our time?
5) Are these the educators our up and coming show queens are in the hands of?!?

lol, thankyou bulldog............my source was reviewing the theater listings on broadwayworld.com and even then i screwed up the first time....
i didn't mean to be offensive about asking the source about Porgy and Bess being the most recorded score. I was genuinely surprised that it exceeded Showboat and was very curious as to where you found the info. I too had done what Chris mentioned and checked Amazon, and indeed they have many more listings for Porgy and Bess than Showboat. This isn't the greatest source...but it could be an indication.
when i asked about the source, you could have responded to me that it was "to the best of your knowledge.", or something like that. you seem very knowledgable and the source of your brain
is good enough for me:)

Duane, you're a bit harsh, but right. He wasn't even CLOSE! :)

Hey, I have a reason to be harsh. This guy attacked me early on with a high-and-mighty attitude. Even his name is obnoxious! And just downright silly, when he makes obvious mistakes like this.
I'm all for discussions like this on the board, but get your facts straight!

Hey Teach...
I'd gladly send TSMrW to you for dessert, but he's allergic to cherries.

the Teacher must be off for the summer because he's being pretty quiet now :) I guess he's trying to let the thread drop down into oblivion...

Some more fun Tony facts along similar lines...
According to my memory (and fast research) - I think that Thoroughly Modern Millie has more Tony winners in its cast...Sutton Foster, Ben Davis, and Leslie Uggams. Just one week ago they numbered at 4 before Harriet left. Close runners up include Hairspray and Nine. Please correct me if I am wrong! (As if I had to ask...)
I hate that whole "Boheme" tony thing. UGH.

Foster- Why do you hate it? Did they steal the Tony you deserved away from you?
I hate it because i don't feel it was deserved. They only did 2-3 shows a week... Meanwhile, the dancers over at Movin' out are working their BUTTS off.... I just think the whole thing is unfortunate. Should those mildly talented actors with great voices all be able to say they have tonys? Um, NO.

I agree. I think Elizabeth Parkinson deserves a Tony over Ben Davis.

FosterChild, I hope your comments are on the basis that you saw the show. I watched Ben Davis, and he is not what anyone could call "mildly talented." The entire company was _extremely_ talented. I'm not sure you understand how difficult the show is to sing. The young singers of BOHEME were physically unable to sing the show 8-9 times a week... no one can sing that show 8-9 times a week, in a house the size of Broadway Theatre no less.

Duane- I will not argue that Elizabeth was phenomenal in the show, but to say she should have it over Ben doesn't make a lot of sense. If the Boheme actors had been put in the mix for individual awards, he would not have been in the same grouping as her anyways. And to Foster, I can't help but to think you have no idea what you are talking about. I am constantly amazed at the satements people make without having any practical knowledge of that which they speak of. Updated On: 8/10/03 at 10:43 AM
