dramamama, can you even imagine anything as pathetic as that? Like literally OMG Ken Davenport promoting his show is SO desperate!

If you haven't sorted it out yet, there is a different "Manic Monday" promotion/discount every week. So, prepare yourself and you won't get triggered again in 7 days.

Perhaps just giving the u/s a chance while still in previews. And I think that the rock songs he sings, in particular, may require some rest now and again

Maybe I just have NYMF on the brain because 'tis the season...but this would have been the middle of the pack in any NYMF season.

Jordan Catalano said: "OMG HunterK is SO right! A show offering discounts in order to get people in to see it and hope that they like it and word of mouth can spread is the LITERAL DEFINITION OF REACHING. HunterK, I can’t wait to see what they do next, too! Maybe they’ll get desperate enough to actually do publicity and get the word out about their show! Can you imagine how REACHING it would be of them if they did that???"

I am just trying to state that these "Promotions" just seem to be getting worse in the publicity department. The word of mouth is nothing but negative, I am a part of this Broadway community and all we hear is how they are basically giving out tickets to people on the street. The marketing is down right insulting (the over 40 ad) and isn't bringing any extra into the box office. The cast is just trying to stay afloat as they change the show almost on a daily basis. Plus having Davenport address the audience at the beginning of each show just ruins the moment. When I saw it, he babbled about himself for 3 minutes and basically said they are still working on the show, but enjoy it!

This is just my opinion, but seeing these ads make me and others want to buy tickets even less. I wish they would advertise by throwing Marilou Henner's name out there! She has a TON of fans that have no idea she is back on Broadway. Why are they forgetting her? She is loved! But they just seem to have "The Band only" in their spectrum.

Maybe because the show's not called Getting Marilu Henner Back Together. I'm just guessing. I could be wrong.

She is the only cast member that is a household name, or at lest tot he crows they are going after. Why wouldn't you use her name in advertising? The show isn't about teenagers, yet marketing is sending out a promo for them.

If they can fit her into the advertising seamlessly, it probably wouldn't hurt but it's been 25 years since her last big TV series and 16 years since her last time on Broadway. I can't imagine many people going to see this just cause of her. She's a name people will know but in 2018 clearly more of the "Oh look honey, Marilu Henner is in this, too" rather than "Honey, Marilu Henner's back on Broadway. WE GOTTA GO."  I think you're kidding yourself if you think otherwise. Also, the promo they sent out may have had a discount for teenagers but it was targeted TO their parents, the ones making the decision about whether to buy tickets. They're basically saying to their target market "you know you'll enjoy it but we think your kids will too so here's a cheap ticket so you can bring them." I can't fault them for knowing who their target market is and going with a unified "band focused" message.

To those who are saying they don't advertise Marilu Henner, they do. I see plenty of ads on instagram/youtube for GTTBT the end off with something along the lines of "and a cast you haven't heard of" and then Marilu yells something.

They wouldn't be advertising a someone in a show unless they're the lead tbh. Marilu is recognizable but she really shouldn't be the draw to the show. Unfortunately it looks like she may be the only one lol

I saw this last night and it was just embarrassingly bad. The cast is very talented, but the material is awful. Though I will say that a lot of the audience seemed to genuinely enjoy it and was laughing a lot. Also kudos to the two understudies that went on, especially the lead’s love interest. She had a great voice and did really well.

But yeah... pass on this show. I’m just thankful I had a comp.

Incase people are wondering:

The two understudies that went on were Becca Kotte for the role of Dani Franco (Kelli Barrett) and Lindsay Brett Carothers went on for Tawney Truebody (normally Becca’s role)

Both did great.

What’s the runtime looking like?

I just opened up my email and I received an email from Ken telling me about the wonders of the show.  Also until August 12, you can get a ticket for $50... after August 12 the price increases to $79.  If someone needs the code, let me know.  Of course, I'm sure I am not the only one who received this email.  I am planning on seeing the show on a Sunday night during my upcoming trip. However, I am going to be looking for a ticket alot less than $79.

Where/when could I get these tickets that are being "given out on the street" as one poster wrote?  (You wonder how the average ticket price could be $39.87 last week.)

On Sept 2, I'd like to be standing on that street also.

I will run down that street screaming about getting bands together just for a comp. I want to see this atrocity in the best way possible: free.

The average ticket price is low right now because you can sit anywhere in the orchestra and mezzanine for $50 with the code BT502GA on telechargeoffers.com through August 12th.

The show is well worth giving a chance to. People that are going, in many cases, are loving it. The ones that aren’t enjoying it typically acknowledge that most of the theatre was laughing...and laughing a lot.

The hope here is to pack the theatre during previews and have the word of mouth create a buzz that makes people pay more after opening. You can’t blame Ken for wanting to give his show as much of a chance as possible.

I hope everyone on this board grabs tickets. I am going back on Monday.

i too got the email from Davenport where he claims the $50 tickets are a big deal (because theater owners dont allow tickets that low) whut? I see so many shows offer $49 tickets, this is done by end of September and thats being generious

Whut? I could be wrong, but I think it’s termed “marketing”!

Yes but perhaps you might be in the same boat as many of us that have been marketed to incessantly. I received no less than 3 different emails from “Ken”/GTBBT today and apparently I am duplicate on one of those lists so even though I have already seen the show, I got 6 emails today and it is enough already. I don’t want to keep reliving it! ?? At this point, I am surprised he hasn’t pulled the “raves” from this thread to include in his pull quotes.

Partial view and rear mezz, sure. But he's definitely offering better seats that you can pick in advance for that price than anyone else...

Haterobics nailed it with the last comment.

Come on LightsOut90, actually see the show before you keep bashing it please. If not going in with an open mind, why not give your tickets to someone else in a couple weeks?

Saw the show tonigh and it’s just a mixed bag. I wanted to love it, but I had ZERO emotional connection with any character on that stage.
The mezz was completely full tonight.

One thing I did come away with... Ken Davenport is one hot Daddy! DILF material all day long.
