I fought hard to contain my gay-gasms, but the VOGUE music video sent me spilling over the edge.

I feel like I've broken the 12-Step Program. Something this good HAS to be bad for you!

Watching Lea Michele and Jonathan Groff FINALLY performing together again was so surreal and pretty (and the NYC Bway Diva in me got so proud of them!) What a fun/twisted storyline!

And the scenes between Matthew Morrison and Idina Menzel were fierce (anyone else notice her incredible post-pregnancy hips?)

Not to mention the countless one-line zingers that make GLEE half the fun!

Dolphins are just gay sharks
You have enough product in your hair to grease a wok
I have the Slushie-stained training bra to prove it
I sometimes forget my middle name
(hands clump of hair) Use it to fix the hole in your trailer
Most of the show choir directors I make out with are gay.
No, she's dead, this is her son.

enough product in your hair to "season" a wok! (sorry, had to correct you, that one stuck in my head!)

Good to have some Glee back in my life...loved the way reality hit so fast in the two romances that they went off the rails instantly and great to see Groff make an appearance! I'd just read that Ryan Murphy was going to downsize Lea a bit to make more room for some of the others, but I guess not in this episode...amazing what this show is doing for B'way musical stars...did anybody else see Matt Morrison in the background grinning on tonight's American Idol? Too funny....

I didn't particularly enjoy this episode. It felt slow, and it seemed almost completely different from the Glee I remember loving four months ago.

I don't remember it being as conscious about its own ridiculousness. But tonight there were plenty of nods to its inherent cheesiness: Finn remarking "Oh, that's why the band's here," and the similar moment in the Lionel Ritchie song when all of a sudden the room was filled with violinists and percussionists; the date scene with Finn and the two girls (Britney and Santana, I think?) where he says "I'm sitting right here;" etc. I thought the beauty and comedy came from the fact that these people were so clearly stereotypical and outrageous and the fact that they didn't realize it. But the show seems more self-aware now, and I didn't like it.

I didn't like Groff's performance at all. It may just be the character, but I found him annoying and boring at the same time. And "Gives You Hell" proves that Lea Michele can't sing anything she wants; it was a screamfest. They should've brought it down a notch.

Also, the sound mixing in the final song was terrible. The background vocals were strangled by the leads, and it just sounded messy.

I will say that I liked that the "development" of the Will/Emma relationship. I'm glad that he is realizing what a bad couple they would make and that she is getting over her schoolgirl crush. I liked Idina a lot (and I normally can't stand her); she seemed to understand the comedy a bit better than Groff (ie: that the humor is in the writing, not in performing as if this is theatre of the absurd).

Overall though, I hope that my expectations were just too high. Now that they're in check, hopefully I'll be able to enjoy the rest of the season for what it is: entertaining television, not brilliance personified.

I heard 3 minutes of auto-tuned computerized vocals, and I had to turn it off.

It was pretty awful, but I will still support this show until it goes off the air.

The scenes between Morrison and Menzel were fierce? Really?? Gay-gasms? You are too much...

Was there any need to start a brand new thread for you to talk about "gaygasms"?

There are multiple threads about Glee already...

as a fag hag come on!!! it's a silly show with great one liners! it's not going to change you life or anyone elses but, it WILL make you laugh only if you don't try and be a critic of everything in life. entertainment value on this is very high. it is making fun of itself and i love it! it's like Arrested Development except for mostly gay, talented, high schoolers.

perfectliar - I agree entirely. I've always appreciated Glee, campiness and all, but it went a little too far in this episode. Everyone overacted (especially Mr. Groff) and the songs seemed more random than usual. I also thought the Vogue thing was odd, and too long. Sue's best lines were given away in the preview, and Britney had too just-ok one-liners. I really hope the other episodes aren't like this... I was expecting these episodes to be even more "on" than the others because the writers had a chance to hear feedback from viewers and critics. I suppose we'll see.

I thought the Vogue bit was the best part! The rest of the show seemed to be starting to follow a formula. However, it has always been a bit predictable in formula. I still enjoy it regardless.

The show is definitely falling into formula. We've already had a storyline of Rachel leaving Glee, so it's time for new storylines.

perfectliar is absolutely correct. The show has become self-aware.

Overall, I think it needs to slow down. I think they're moving too fast and by the end of the season, they won't have anywhere to go.

I am not a GLEE hater per se. Perhaps it is more of a guilty pleasure now.
Jane Lynch has the best dialogue, including one liners.
Corey Monteith - don't like him so much. He even looks too old (and is ) to be high school and is the only one who is not over the top talented. He was unknown and lucked out. (auto tune or not, lip synching or not...we know the likes of Lea Michele can sing live and sing well)

I didn't catch the Madonna bit, but loved seeing Idina and Jonathan.

Do cheerleaders wear their uniforms all day at school and then have them on later on too?

I tuned in to see the guest stars and to see if Shue and the other teacher were going to go far.

I'm not a fan...but watched to see the Groff/Lea mashup. While I feel they had some chemistry, I didn't feel his character got interesting until he shot Idina the look while kissing Lea. the dialogue (as usual) was pretty pedestrian.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

I was hoping that over the break, the quality of the writing would improve. NOPE! It's still terrible. Dare I say it though... Idina was the best part? I usually loathe her, but I thought she was absolutely perfect in the role. Groff was terrible, and I just know that I'm going to be rolling my eyes even more for the rest of the season.

Yeah, this episode definitely wasn't the one to kick off a new set of episodes. It was over-dramatic (for no reason), not very funny, self-aware, bad theme/songs/performances, no interesting storyline... Come on, Glee, you're coming off a hiatus! Give us some punch! What a lackluster episode, probably the worst of the season so far.

I did enjoy "Vogue" quite a bit though, the best part of the premiere by far.

Is it true that everything pretty much reverted back to where it was before the last episode? Sue back at the school, Glee in trouble again, etc, etc?

And I keep hearing people referring to this as the second season. Is that the official line? I thought this was just the second half of season one.

At any rate, as much as I loved to hate the first half of the season, I am not watching it this time around.

I am OVER the slurpy joke. WE GET IT! Talk about beating a dead horse. And also, yes Phyllis, everything is EXACTLY like that. The word "convenient" comes to mind a lot during this episode. And Terri was just so random. I just kept being like "WHY?!"

It's absolutely terrific that four very talented Broadway performers (who are each lovely people too) got to show their talent to more in one hour than will ever see them their entire careers onstage, combined.

...and we got to read about Eug's 'gaygasms' on the Off-Topic board, as well.

Guess he thought it was clever.

Why is everyone talking about Vogue? Isn't that next week's show?

I liked the episode. It wasn't my favorite and was full of the typical "recap the past half of the season in super cheesy dialogue" throughout, especially with Morrison's lines but I think it's definitely going to pick up again.

I'm hoping that there'll be some new material of some sort. I mean, I know it's hard with the situation but the whole Sue trying to bring down the Glee club and the principal needing them to jump over more hurdles and whatnot can only go on for so long.

I wasn't a huge fan of Sue's Vogue only because I would have preferred them to give her a song where she could actually sing with a limited range and speak-sing more only because it bothered my how autotuned it had to be.

I just saw the episode on Hulu. I'm glad that Idina got some one liners. Also, the use of Don't Rain On My Parade really set me into the tone of coming back from the end of the first half. Also, I think that the scene between Emma and Terri was tense - especially when she moved the fork over a bit to make Emma scared.
