I heard from a source that GROUNDED is looking to open on Broadway the beginning of 2016. I'm really happy because I missed it downtown so glad I'll get another chance.

I'm assuming Anne Hathaway is still doing it?

It would seem like it needs a small theatre. Maybe the helen Hayes?

Im hearing this is dependent on Hand To God because the producer who is trying to transfer this will only do so if he can secure the Booth.

Yeah I'd think the Booth is the perfect size house for this. Honestly wish they'd built another smaller sized theatre for shows like this. Not everything can play the Minksoff or the Marquis.

Was it a hot ticket at the Public? I barely heard anything about this play.

it got solid reviews and the sales were good it just got somewhat overshadowed by Hamilton, and to be honest they didn't advertise it too heavily, trust me some solid tv spots and advertising with anne all over it, this will sell fine.

I was surprised at how little they advertised Hathaway's name for the Public run. Her name, in relatively small font, was tucked subtly between the title, and the pull-quotes with Taymor's name in huge font. If it does transfer to Broadway, I'd be very happy for them. I enjoyed it off-Broadway, but I don't think I'd see it again.

By no means do I think this would be an easy sell like Cooper in Elephant Man. Not sure her name alone could carry this through. But I'd be interested to see how it does on the Bway.

It was a great show that I would love to see again, so I hope that this isn't just a rumor. And, I agree, it could only make sense in a smaller theater. What was nice about having it Off Broadway at the Public was how intimate the show felt.

Posted: 6/25/15 at 8:48pmI find this a bit surprising. I saw the final show and wasn't terribly impressed. With respect to those who liked it, I thought Hathaway's accent was off, which is cumbersome when the show is her talking the whole time. . Also, there were a handful of empty seats and I read on this thread that that was common. Plus, I got student tickets for $30, which were not part of any rush. A transfer would rely heavily on people going to see Hathaway, which could work if more actively promoted, I suppose.

The show and Hathaway got a rave from the Times. Anne Hathaway is one of the biggest stars right now. I imagine if the show does make it to Broadway, it'll be heavily promoted around her and the performance, and they have pull out quotes to sell it from the first day of previews.

Is this show still trying to come in? Well if Anne is free for the spring I could see it taking the Hudson.

I doubt it. I mean, nothing's impossible. It could still be in the works; Hathaway and Taymor are both marketable names. But at this point I think too much time has passed to still be holding our breath.

Not coming to Broadway any time soon -- probably ever -- but Hathaway and Taymor are developing it as a film.
