This isn't anything new on Goldstar. They put a VERY small number of tickets on sale for free, in the hopes that word will spread and people will go there and when they find it is sold out, decide they want to go anyway and buy a ticket.

I've never known any actor to be surprised when a show they are in closes, or why.

That is incredibly rude. Wishing a closing on a show? Wishing actors out of work? This is so incredibly rude and you should be ashamed.

Lol okay. You can unclutch your pearls now.

Okay, you can resspect actors now ???????

Yeah. Sure....

Closings are part of the Broadway economy. Another show (with actors!) will come in. Move along

He's not being DISrespectful to the actors. THEY know what a precarious position they are in. They didn't get IN this field for job security.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

emaxman said: "Yes but not because disreszpectul people on local media say they should close. That’s not how it works."

Or it is treating them with respect to wish they could do something better with their talents?

As do show closings.

Being delusional that it is a business, seemingly?

Oh, good god, earwax - no one is "encouraging" anything. The writing is on the wall, good or bad, people just do not want to see this.

"Yes, but ENCOURAGING closings? Do you even know what being a supportive broadway fan means?"

Yes, we do. It means paying money to see the shows we want to see. That is what being a fan means. Broadway is a BUSINESS. They exist to MAKE MONEY. And "being a fan" means supporting their show financially. Take the emotion out of it. Oh, and no one is encouraging closings.

Give it up. Yeesh. The cast is literally playing to like 30 people in the auidence. Lets hope the cast moves on to better peices of work. Stop getting yourself so worked up.

Someone posts something about a possibility of a show closing. Someone elses response: We can only hope. HOW IS THAT ENCOURAGING A SHOW STAYING OPEN??

I know Broadway is a business, thank you very much. I'm not stupid. A show exists; you see it, you don't like it. Or you have no interest in seeing it. That is NO reason you encourage a closing, or guessing how much longer it has. You're not the almighty authority on all things theater related (I do not claim to be in the slightest, but I DO respect the actors and the shows they are in), so get off your high horse and learn to respect others.

"take the emotion out of it" --Have you seen how people are responding to the recent Wicked casting news? There is absolutely no way to take emotion out of anything, so don't think you can tell anyone how to feel.

"

But don’t you also think that us as broadway fans deserve quality work?

Marilu Henner was on WPIX news this morning talking about anything but the show (one of the anchors has to hop in to boost it). Then Jenner went on to give the weather report and she botched it badly.

See there's the problem: just because others "love it" doesn't make mean others can't still say it's awful.

It is BLEEDING money. It IS going to close soon - people just want the bandaid ripped off. They want better for audiences AND the cast/crew.

And again, for the millionth time, THEY KNOW THEIR SHOW IS FAILING. No one is saying anything they haven't thought. It's humiliating to be performing for so few people.
