"But what about the people who want to see struggling actress Rachel Berry in her Sex and the City-lite-with-jazz-hands NYC adventures with her gay accessory Kurt?"
OMG!! When does this premiere?? Sounds spectacular!!

"Emma, what exactly stopped being great?"
Well, as others here have said, it's the same plot line with the same characters, they're just changing little details.

Posted: 3/24/13 at 7:22pmYes, but like All That Jizz said, it's BETTER that the characters are so much meaner now than before! Because it's lots of fun to watch a supposedly 16 year old girls be so cruel to another girl that she becomes bulimic. FUN!!!

Most of the time I'm not bitchy, but I certainly can be.
I don't necessarily see it as a desirable character trait in the real world, (though for some strange reason most of my friends are, mostly my theater friends) but I like it on characters and celebrities. I love a good villain, and those are actually my favorite roles to play.

I'll agree PLAYING them is more fun than ingenue type roles -- but in life, I try to avoid them. Who needs that $hit?
And celebrities are in real life -- why should we applaud horrid, nasty behavior?

Nope. Don't watch them. I don't need others nastiness to make me feel better about my life.
And what a shallow friend you must be indeed, if you simply keep people around to make yourself feel superior. Wow.

When exactly did I say that?? I love my friends, they all have strong personalities, so there is always a LOT of drama, but I would do anything for them.
Of all the people here, the least I expected a personal attack from was you, drama. I actually thought you were one of the most polite and gracious posters here.

Posted: 3/24/13 at 8:39pmWhen asked about why you would want that in your life YOU responded with "schadenfreude". I was only responding to what YOU put out there.

You didn't ask that, you asked:
And celebrities are in real life -- why should we applaud horrid, nasty behavior?
The question was clearly about celebrity behavior, to which I answered with the reason why I liked it in CELEBRITIES. How did you interpreted it the way you did, I have no idea, but that's not what I said.
And blaxx, have I said anything bad to you? If I did, though I'm pretty sure it was the other way around, I sincerely apologize.

Well, I was actually referring to the part about keeping bitchy people in your life. Additionally, I think both things are wrapped up together: why would you welcome nastiness into your life as an admirable quality?
I didn't see the two things as totally separate.

ETA: "Scripted shows."
I hate to be that person but if we're going to say that we can't call them reality shows, then really, there is no such thing as reality TV (all reality TV is scripted to a certain extent) which means it doesn't exist as a genre, which is just... stupid. Just because it's scripted, doesn't mean we can't call it "reality television." Reality television refers to the fact that they are real people, and not actors playing characters.

Blaxx, The only person who hasn't contributed anything to the topic here it's you. If you feel like there is no topic why do you keep posting?
Dusty, sadly I'm as relaxed as I'll ever be. Relaxation's not for me, I've even tried Yoga, but my mind is too laborious for it.

I can only respond to what you typed. I certainly didn't TRY to misconstrue what you meant. Truly.
Just like any in person conversation, things meander. You invited varied opinions onto your thread, but didn't like that you actually got them. I'm sure you expected to get nothing but agreement, but that's never the way discussion boards go.

I may be biased, being passingly familiar with "real" people, but with the possible exception of Reality/Competition shows (THE AMAZING RACE, SURVIVOR, etc) - "Reality TV" is less real than scripted television. At least scripted television credits the screenwriters.
But then again, I've never seen an episode of "Keping up with the Kardahsians"
