DON'T READ IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW THE BEGINNING OF THE SHOW:
The show really begins in the sun on the beach. Then the guys come out through the upstage doors and sing GREASE. Then the girls sing. Then the rest of the ensemble comes out and Patty and Eugene sing. Then everyone sings. And it fades off into the next scene where the T-Birds and Pink Ladies assemble.

I got that photo from eBay. There are Playbills already up.
Interesting that they moved Hopelessly Devoted to You to Act II (I'm assuming that the reason is to give Sandy a chance to, you know, be included in the 2nd Act).
Also interesting that they retained It's Raining on Prom Night (the best song in the show besides Magic Changes, IMO) from the revival, with Jan and Sandy singing (instead of the "Radio Voice.")
Jan sings it on a little platform at the dance, while Sandy rolls onto stage in a little wood box that is supposed to be her bedroom as she joins in.

$80 for the last row of the balcony for a preview yet? Oy? Why would anyone pay that for this production?
Why would someone pay for that ? I dont know it neither ...
Yup - I paid $81.60 for Balcony RMEZZ, row L... and no -its not on previews- I am seeing it a month after theyve open..(8/19 is opening day) Luckily I was able to get a ticket ! Can you believe that too !
There were really no discount offered on Grease and please don't rub it bec. i might just hit my head with a hammer for paying that
and to add insult to injury- ... All the critics might have probably trashed the show by then ... I hope not !

Allison was great...one of the few standouts of the group.
Good to know. I think this girl has a bright future ahead of her.
I totally would have loved to see her toss off the Patty wig and bust out with some I Want More!
"I want more than this show, o o o o o o"! (Sung to the tune of I Want More of course)

I love that song.
Man, I would have bought that CD just for that song and Drew Sarich's "After All this Time". Oh well, that's another topic. I digress.
I was one of the first people at the stage door last night so I was in the front and when Allison came out, I called out her name and asked her to sign my playbill. Here's a little snippet of our conversation:
Me: You were amazing tonight and I also loved you in Lestat...I saw it twice including the final performance. It is so great to have you back on Broadway.
Allison: Awww, thanks. I hope this show lasts longer than Lestat did.
Me: Don't worry, this show will last a whole lot longer than 39 performances! You'll be employed for a long time.
Allison: I definitely hope so. Thanks!
She is so nice and so sweet. I love her and I'm glad she's working again.
I have to say i have seen a few US productions of Grease including the last revival and i have never been that impressed. The UK seems to have the show down to a T , its fast moving, great Choreography , Everything is Camp and OTT (we even get half naked guys in the shower lol).
For the person who said they all seemed to old to be playing High School Kids, erm well thats what they did in the film and all productions do the same.

Jan sings IT'S RAINING ON PROM NIGHT at the dance because she won some WAXX contest. Sandy is at home listening to Jan sing it on the radio and she sort of repeats Jan for a while, then sings it together with Jan.
HOPELESSLY DEVOTED was great. Some guy behind me tried clapping during the big "But Now..." but no one joined in.
WAT, I saw you at the stage door. Right in front, with the entire mob of tourists behind you. I must say, I'm impressed. With the crowd that was out there when I got out, I didn't have a chance.
Allison's signature is certainly something to wait outside the stagedoor for! She's the next Bernadette Peters! Put that autograph on Ebay and it'll sell for millions!
Don't you have anything better to do than get nobody's signatures?

What was with that tacky woman and her two daughters by the stagedoor? Bitch was shoving people left and right so her daughters could have a better vantage point of getting autographs. It took every ounce of self control not to slug her.
I'll reserve comment about the show until after it opens, but I really expected a lot more from Kathleen Marshall in the choreography department. I see that Joyce Chitteck (sp?) was listed as her assistant. How much of the choreography in this case would have been her responsibility?
Yes, Foster, I ran out immediately to get to the front of the barricades since I knew there would be a large crowd waiting.
A poster whose username is BringBackBirdie??? PM me...we'll be the best of friends for life!
Oh my god...that woman and her two daughters at the stage door were SO ANNOYING. The girls were wearing pink ladies sweatshirts and pink caps...and they screamed at the top of their lungs when Max and Laura came out...it reminded me of the crazy experience meeting Idina Menzel after a performance of SWIWS. Not pretty.

in defense to Kathleen Marshall.. i think that she could have done this show amazingly. but she held back, because of all of the people in the cast that have no experience. i think she is really worried that danny and sandy are not going to get through their run..
While that defense may be the case, the fact is that she should have thought of that when she signed a contract with a television network. People are paying a lot of money to see a quality Broadway production with top notch Broadway level talent.
"First off, no one can outdo Billy Porter's BEAUTY SCHOOL DROPOUT."
Mmmm...Billy Porter's great, but I can't stand his Beauty School Dropout. My least favorite recording of that song.
