Those who can, do Those who know, teach Those who can't teach, teach gym :)
I hardly know a successful person who has NO education or wasn't taught anything, except for a guy on another board who is totally ignorant named "Grease Tickets Money." There is a guy without education or class.
So, A friend of mine's mother went to see the show and she thought is was good, (keep in mind that she is a diehard Grease fan) and was really impressed by the cast with the exception of the leads, she said that they were weak and did not live up to the expectations that they were built up to be on. Right from the beginning of that reality show, I knew it was a bad idea to let the general public pick the leads of a broadway show. I do think that Laura has a beautiful voice, but I hear that she is not on stage much and that just doesnt fit in with what I remember about Grease.
That being said, I believe that this show will be a success due to the fact that it is based on a reality show and that in and of itself will draw the crowds to this show.
"Broadway is supported by tourists. So to appeal to that strategic market how is that a negative thing?"
Not saying that it is a negative thing. I am saying it is one of the reason that these shows have stayed open so long. I was saying how a show like Wicked that is backed by Universal can afford to nationally advertise, so that the tourists know these shows. If you can't get the tourist then you obviously are sunk...thats why all the disney shows, wicked, mama mia, and the movie musicals have long runs
and thanks for the shout out of my homer quote..it is starting to ring true and thats why new shows aren't making it
"Never be bullied into silence. Never allow yourself to be made a victim. Accept no one's definition of your life. Define yourself"
"And there are far to many gym teachers in this world."

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

If you are going to re-do the stage GREASE to make it more like the film GREASE, would it not make sense to adapt the screeenplay? The movie at least made the characters believable and sympathetoc? The stage script is barely above a SNL skit.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks." Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
Now, when you say sucess, do you mean critically or financially?
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.
