Probably not. It's basically nominated by default along with Pal Joey.

they´ve been selling the souvenir program for over a week now. It costs 10 dollars.

Any news on whether there will be a recording of this production?

May the show Rest In Peace.
As Mama Rose says: "Good riddance to bad rubbish!"
There are tons of Guys and Dolls recordings. Deal with it!
Was the Jerry Orbach revival ever recording? I'd lament that not being on disc before this.
Kate Jennings Grant would be the only reason to record it and she ain't gonna sell records!
As much as I wanted this preserved it isn't but its okay because I have the show in my memory which is better than any recording! I didn't love the show it was flawed in so many ways but it was still good.

There may be plenty of recordings, but there aren't any recent popular ones, are they? The last recording of a decent production was almost 20 years ago (1992 Broadway Cast), if I'm right.
I know there is the 50th anniversary recording, with Maurice Hines, which is decent.
But you have to think in the eyes of a producer or the estate.
Is this recording improving upon the last? Is there anything in this production that tops the pretty remarkable 1992 revival? Not really (personal tastes aside).
Putting a competing disc against something already in print is a tricky thing. The average consumer isn't going to know the difference and dividing the market (rather than steering them to a certain choice) isn't the wisest thing to do with a poorly received revival. While you could have had a perfectly worthwhile experience at the Nederlander, you can't deny the fact that most people didn't. And for a show that was a financial failure. why would a producer who has probably milked all they can from their bakers, want to seek more money when they can move to another project that could be successful?
With the OBC and the revival still in print, the want for this disc is too few to make it worthwhile. IF the stellar London revival failed to get interest to record (with real stars in great performances), this 3rd national tour caliber company isn't going to get anymore interest in this recording.

I can't comment Bobbybubby because I didn't see the production, but was just thinking that it was about time that they had a new recording. And you're right, if the London cast didn't get one, then why would a flop? The fact the London production used songs from the film (I think, Nathan Detroit) gives it all the more reason for a recording. But hey, it never happened.
What songs from teh movie were used in London?
I was given to understand that th Loesser estate has flatly refused any offers to interpolate "Pet Me Poppa", "A Woman in Love" or Adelaide" into any stage production of G&D.
Cast albums are NOT "soundtracks."
Live theatre does not use a "soundtrack." If it did, it wouldn't be live theatre!
I host a weekly one-hour radio program featuring cast album selections as well as songs by cabaret, jazz and theatre artists. The program, FRONT ROW CENTRE is heard Sundays 9 to 10 am and also Saturdays from 8 to 9 am (eastern times) on www.proudfm.com
This is the first time I've heard of them using film songs. I'd be curious to know what they used.
While it is a pity that Kate Jennings Grant's passionate and sublime performance as Sarah Brown wasn't recorded, really that one performance alone did not justify recording one of the worst musical performances of the season (looking at you Lauren Graham).
It truly is a pity that the brilliant West End recording wasn't preserved for posterity as I suspect it's a recording that could have rivaled the '92 album simply because all of the principals gave equally fascinating yet entirely different performances. If I had the money I'd certainly finance an album featuring Jane Krakowski's Olivier-winning Adelaide, Jenna Russell's great Sarah Brown, and Doug Hodge and Ewan McGregor's neat leading men turns.

This is my favorite clip from the production.
A Bushel and a Peck
I wasn't sure where else to post this so I figured here was best..
In your opinion which recording of Guys and Dolls do you guys think is best?
I wanna get a bunch of cast recordings for christmas and not too sure which one of G&D to get.. help? =]
"Every show "deserves" to have it's performances preserved. Good or bad, it's still a piece of Broadway's history."
I couldn't agree more. This *may* go down as the worst production of "Guys and Dolls" ever to hit Broadway, and wouldn't you want to own something of that?
I suggest the OBCR and the Faith Prince revival.
Seconded. I have three different recordings of it (the original, the Faith Prince revival, and the Maurice Hines revival), and this one is my favorite.
