"I’ve read some reviews comparing the 2009 revival tribe to the current revival tribe and I think it is very unfair to make these comparisons as it would be very unfair for me to compare the 2009 revival tribe to the 1968 tribe and also how “Hair” was staged back then. Shows evolve and the cast will change and I think that shows its cast should be judged on merit and not comparison. Go see “Hair” you will not be disappointed by the current tribe."

very well put. i need to retract my apparent "11 year old" type complaint about Ace. it isn't fair nor right. I also agree with Will going OTT and being a little out there when I saw him too. I was a little surprised it was not pulled back.
i will probably see the other cast in London before the new one in NY, but definately will see them. I know Will is only in London for 8-10 weeks, is he coming back to HAIR or something else. I would think the latter. They are in London until Oct. 2. I keep hearing good things about this new tribe.

Amanda-
thanks for that and although I haven't seen them I can see it. with that line from Diana, I know it didn't get a laugh when i saw it with Caissy Levy at all. I don't even think with Jackie. it is a serious moment.

how is HUD? I loved Darius Nichols, but they U/S I had seen as well was fantastic.

thanks for all of these updates

and again, i retract my original comment. probably a little late, but people screw up :)

Everytime I have seen Caissie and Jackie say this line it got laughs. I have seen them a total of 7 times together. Ironically it didn't get a laugh when I saw Diana on Sat night.

That being said I saw the new tribe for the first time and it was so different than seeing the old tribe. There were parts that I missed them and parts that I welcomed the new tribe.

Annaleigh was a complete standout for me(Im not being biased either since I have seen her numerous times in Wicked) and she stole the show. Everyone around me fell in love with her from the beginning. She is completely different than Kacie.

Diana can sing the crap outta the songs but her acting takes some getting used to after seeing Caissie so many times. She is very intense in the shirt ripping scene which I loved.

Ace was completely different than Will but I liked him. He is a lot calmer too.

Kyle was apparently still pretty sick and his voice was not there at all.

The other standouts for me were Catherine Brookman(Megan's track) whos voice just about knocked me off my seat in Black Boys, Kate Rockwell whom is completely gorgeous and fits well into Jackie's track and Josh Lamon(whom I have seen as Margaret Mead when Andrew was on vacation).

It was obvious that Diana and Kyle were still sick and Ace is getting sick.

All in all I enjoyed the new tribe immensely and will definately see them again when they are feeling better.

interesting.

i was on a brief NY trip and took in HAIR twice. basically, I saw Jackie the next day after seeing Caissie. I found them different and I didn't hear gaffaw's of laughter, but now you are making me go back in my memory bank. :) -

personally went to see Caissie as from my home province and she did not dissapoint professionaly or personally sitting with her on the stage.

i appreciate your views and critique. thanks.

I'm sorry, but I have to disagree with what many people are saying. I love the new tribe much better than the original tribe. I saw the last tribe in February and the new one in March, almost a month apart and felt that they are so much better. I don't understand though how they casted Will as Berger, he doesn't even look young. The new cast has much more energy and Jeanette is a far better Dionne than Sasha will ever be.

well wdwfreak, They are called opinions. People have different ones. You can disagree all you want but they are still opinions. Some people like the old tribe better and some don't.

^ Will you shut the **** up? Seriously... All you do is practically push how you want people to lose their job, no matter how well a show is doing.

I never saw the original revival cast so I cannot compare but I saw the new cast on Saturday afternoon and was pleased. Kyle made a good Claude, very innocent, but his voice was alright (but people are saying here he's been sick, so maybe that is it). He and Ace as Berger had great chemistry. Ace had a strong voice and was very entertaining to watch (and look at). Loved Jason as Woof.

The mezz was pretty much empty for the matinee. The last rows were sold and the center front section, and a few side rows, but otherwise empty.

Motortink, I was there Saturday afternoon, too! Sat in the mezzanine and was told by the ushers to move down towards the front. I was quite surprised that it was so empty for a Saturday matinee.

My main complaint about the entire show was the failure for cast members to annunciate while they were singing. As I was only familiar with a couple of the songs, I really had no idea what they were singing about. At times their voices were totally drowned out by the band. Not sure if that was due to the fact of where I was sitting in the mezz (row G) or that the sound balance was off.

That being said, Diana Degarmo annunciated during her solos. I really liked her voice, and liked her performance.

Wallace Smith was a standout as Hud. I don't know what it was, but I could not keep my eyes off of him. His face was very expressive throughout the show, and at times truly heartbreaking.

The singing during the opening and closing numbers gave me chills. All and all, Hair just didn't do it for me.

Dottie, I was in center mezz row D. We moved over to the right area at intermission so we could spread out. In our original seats my roomate had a kid kicking her chair the whole time, so we wanted out, lol. And I totally agree with the band overpowering the singers at points. I just chalked it up to my hearing issues.

I was in Row G (right behind the railing) center right. If I had known you were there I would have introduced myself. I was with my cousin and she had exactly the same complaints that I did.

haha, wow, for the second act you were pretty much right behind me! :)

My roomate has only seen a few shows period, but overall she really enjoyed herself. She loved the fact that the tribe kept coming up in the audience.
