I'm hoping to catch Donna. When is Bette's vacation?

I don't know about her vacation....but she'll also be performing every Tuesday starting the week of the Tony Awards.

Her performance will likely develop a following, since it's available and many will see it first who have to wait for Midler. I'm curious how it's selling. When I bought my Bette seats six weeks ago (for August), the Murphy performances were wide open at the box office. Virtually none were sold. I suspect they'll sell fine, just closer to the performance dates.

The hardcore theater queens will go. And she will be fabulous. The masses won't go. And she will be fabulous. But lets not kid ourselves.. this production is ; BETTE MIDLER - HELLO , DOLLY! While Donna is on it will be Donna Murphy in BETTE MIDLER- HELLO, DOLLY! That has nothing to do with her performance or anything.. I love Donna and can't wait to see her. But the whole reason this whole production exists is Bette Midler.. and she is not only fabulous.. but DIVINE!

Yet I wonder how many tourists will buy a ticket when it's over at TKTS during Midler's vacations without knowing it's Murphy performing?

I agree. This is my exact conversation with a TKTS employee last summer -
Me: "Where are the seats you guys have for Noises Off?"
Him: "I can get you front mezz right, aisle seat, but the star of the show is not in today."
Me: "Megan Hilty?"
Him: "I was thinking Andrea Martin, but yes - Hilty is out as well."
We both laughed, and I bought tickets to see Blackbird instead.

I've always found TKTS to be honest about absences sparking ticket availability.

Just went to the box office to ask a question and found out they have some $59 balcony seats for Donna's first performance!

Exactly--they have no reason not to be. They're getting paid whether you buy a ticket or not.

I've heard from several sources that DOLLY's Tony number will be The Waiter's Gallop.

That's great. I would never ever sit in the balcony of the Shubert though.

I normally would agree with this - in fact I normally only sit first row orchestra, but I ended up first row balcony for Dolly and it was surprisingly good!

I'll be there during Bette's vacation. As a huge Murphy fan, this is the most exciting theater event I've been looking forward to the most. I'll catch Bette Middler eventually (whom I am sure is perfection in the role), but for this Murphy superfan, this revival is all about La Murphy. I hope this is a healing experience for her, what a way to come back to Broadway.

I just bought my ticket for Donna's first performance in Dolly! I can't wait. The box office still had some decent priced Balcony seats. Anything Mezz or Orch was well over $100. I hope she sells out the theater too :)

Seriously, Johntlew2? You really didn't think anyone would have known this almost a month after the Tony Awards already aired? Dollypop's comment/post was said about a month BEFORE the Tony Awards aired.
