Has this been discussed? A Canadian cast for a pre-Broadway run at the very large Citadel theatre. Will be strange to see such a small show in such a large house, but I guess it will be the same on Broadway.

I am so excited for this to go to broadway! I would love for them to keep the original cast.

I am all about this!!!! Loved it at NYTW and waiting for the full cast album! The EP is great.

A lot of cast members are tied up in The Great Comet right now which probably accounts for the different cast. The originals will probably return for the broadway run.

I really hope this happens and really hope the original cast returns for the Broadway run. I can't imagine anyone but Amber Gray play Persephone.

Maybe Patrick Page can finally get a long-overdue Tony!

I love the EP too and want the whole shebang! Fingers crossed for later this year for that.
As far as having an out-of-town run for an Off Broadway show, I don't know enough about that to comment. It will be interesting to see how Hadestown does in a large theater. It was great at NYTW. One of my favorite shows of last year.

Yeah, this was one of my favorites of the year as well, especially Patrick Page and Amber Gray (between this and The Great Comet I just love her). I am a bit nervous about it translating into a bigger theatre, there aren't too many ways to expand the ensemble, and it is just an intimate piece.

Chavkin was able to translate the things that made Great Comet successful in the tiny Ars Nova space into increasingly large venues all the way up to the Imperial. I have complete faith in her direction here.

I was actually going to mention in my last post that I had the same qualms about Great Comet, and for the most part Rachel Chavkin proved me wrong with that one. I think Comet is a much easier one to adjust, and easier to expand the ensemble.

Amber Gray as Persephone was one of my favorite performances of 2016. I'm giddy at even the possibility of getting to see it again.

I've been saying the same about Page, one of my favorite performances of 2016, and I can't wait to relive it with the full album.

Nothing against the Canadian cast, but I also hope a lot of the NYTW cast returns.

I'll catch this and report on the differences between Off Broadway and the Canada run.

Interesting... there'll be another, one-off New York workshop performance on 24 March, with some of the previous cast and some new faces: http://www.playbill.com/article/broadway-aimed-musical-hadestown-workshopped-with-reeve-carney.

As much as I like Reeve Carney, I really hope Damon Dauno continues with the show.
