A friend and I are going to try for the Hair lottery for tomorrow evening's show...(which I'm super excited for)
...just out of curiosity, how crazy has it been lately?
ETA: Also, approx. how many tickets do they give out?
Thanks for anyone's help!

Tuesday night isn't crowded ever. Maybe 40ish people? There are 28 seats.
Good luck!

How 'bout on Saturday nights? I'm sure it'll be packed. I'm debating whether to try Hair or In the Heights.
i tried on a sat night in mid april and it was packed! I lost !

I tried tonight, it wasn't PACKED but there were easily 60-70 people.
Also, saw Natalie Weiss at the lotto. Don't think she won, though.

I did the lottery for the Sunday Matinee last week. There was maybe 50 people there, I wound up winning the last two tickets.
What do people think -
Lottery seats or the $37 tickets in the rear mezz?
I would say the rear mezz seats. That way you know you are actually going to see the show. The view is not bad at all. The mezz is more slanted than high so the view is fine.
^^Ok.
Have you ever been to the Lunt Fontanne? How would you say the back of the mezz at the Hirschfield would compare to the back of the Lunt?
It's better.
The seats would be like front mezz seats at the Palace.
Oh ok thats great I was front mezz for Legally Blonde and they were great! Gonna book my rear mezz seats next week :)
Don't forget, Hair has SRO tickets, too- an alternative to lottery, particularly on weekends when performances are most likely to be sold out. Just get to the box office when it opens.

where are the lotto seats?

ahh. ok.
Are the boxes at the Hirsch better than the boxes at the Broadway?
I have won lotto twice; once I was further "in" the box, meaning on the aisle, and once I was in the seat up against the outer part of the box.
The seats on the aisle are obstructed because of the heads in front of you and for some seats because of the scaffolding on the sides of the boxes but the seat on the outer most part of the box is fantastic. No obstruction...perfect view.
I haven't sat in the boxes at the Broadway but the boxes at the Hirschfeld are pretty good. Plus you get some unique interaction with the cast in the boxes.
Anyone have anything to say about SRO for Hair? I'm dying to see it but I'll be in the city with two other people so we don't know want to count on the lottery seeing as though two of us would have to win... and we're poor college students so we don't want to pay full price. I've done SRO at the Shubert and the Circle in the Square and I was pleased with both views.
How is the SRO view? Do people line up for SRO early like they do for rush tickets? If so, what time would you suggest we get there on a tuesday or wednesday? Any information is greatly appreciated! Thank you!
tuesday/wednesday there shouldn't be a line for SRO, but make sure the show is sold out. the people at the BO wait til every single ticket is sold before selling standing room. it's definitely worth it. the show makes you want to dance anyway so if you can stand for 2 1/2 hour go for it. cheaper, fun, lots of cast interaction, and good view of the stage.

Standing room is great if they have it. You can dance along and get a lot of the cast interaction as they come up the aisles. The view is fine and the ledge is low (unlike at the Broadhurst or Lunt-Fontanne) so it is easy to see over.
Actually won last saturday and it was fairly crowded, I couldn't believe it. The only comlaint I have was that we got last row in the box and both of us were really short and everyone else was really tall. Just my luck! And the guy in front of us kept leaning in to talk to and cuddle with his girlfriend which left me with almost no view. The bright spot was that in the right box the actors are up there a lot and we got lots of interaction and even hugs. Luckily I had seen the show before or I would've been more disappointed by the lack of view.
How has the lotto been recently, particularly for a Wednesday matinee? I know the show was at 100% last week, so I'm guessing it's been crowded. How many people should I expect?
I did lotto this past Wednesday matinee and it was very crowded.
