Disagree that a cinema-released Hamilton would have been censored as it is on a Disney channel. I think they would have either released it under a subsidiary company they own (the whole reason Touchstone was created in the first place back in the 80's)."
The reason this thread exists is because of an interview Lin-Manuel Miranda gave on the Oscars red carpet in February. Even back then, when it was still a theatrical release, the discussion of censoring had already started, which is a hint that it was going to be released as a Disney film. Along with his work on Moana and Mary Poppins Returns, Lin is now cemented as part of the Disney family, and I highly doubt Touchstone's or Fox's Hamilton was even a consideration.
