What's another Hamilton thread among friends?
I am noticing that tickets are not selling like they did for pre 7/9 shows. I am actually noticing that tickets are selling for close to face value. Also, the shows for this week or next, still have an unbelievable amount of tickets unsold on resale.
Has the time come that ticket prices may fall back in line with the face value or even less?
the cast is sort of a mess at the moment, maybe that has something to do with it

Yeah I'd imagine some people are waiting for when Brandon is in.

Last week was largely understudies, as they don't have a Burr and Lexi Lawson only played 1 performance (maybe two.)
but it's the fees with Tickemaster resale and stubhub that makes those tix still a bit too $$$ for my wallet. What's pretty cool to see are premium tickets priced at $549 (face value) popping up on ticketmaster; normally on the day of or the evening before performance.

I saw Wicked 14 years ago from a premium seat that I bought the day before the performance at regular box office price when it was impossible to get tickets. It happens.
I do suspect that it has been hurt a little, even if last weeks box office was the best yet ( other than maybe Christmas or Easter week), by all the publicity surrounding the big three exits. I think they would have been smarter to phase them out over a month, so it centered only on Lin.

That's amazing!!!
Considering it's only been around for 13 years... Talk about impossible tickets.
I'm teasing, of course. :) But I had to, too easy. ![]()

You ARE aware the OP was talking about 14 years ago WHEN the show was brand new not now. How he purchased an originally intended Premium priced ticket at regular price the day before the performance and this was at the time when WICKED was an impossible ticket to get.
You ARE aware that Wicked wasn't open 14 years ago?
Technically it will be 14 years old in a few months. But by year, it is 14 years old.
I'm shocked the prices have dropped so low. I was looking at August 10th and prices for the same seats I saw then are virtually half now what they were a month ago. I don't think it matters to the general public if the cast is a mess or who's in it now, I guess it really does matter who was in it. I think it's the fault of the media and the show by turning the leads into rock stars, so when they left...meh. At least Book of Mormon was smart by making sure the show was the star, so there was no blip in attention when Andrew and Josh left.

The tryout in SF ran for a month from May to June 2003. Then came to Bway in Oct 2003. So the day-before ticket did not exist in any way shape or form 14 years ago (2002). Technically, it will be 14 years old in a year and a 3 months. It's about to celebrate its 13th anniversary this Oct. By literal count, it's 12 years and change; by literal year (2003), it's 13 years.
Hence why I teased him (it's a joke, no harm meant, but you're still so very wrong any way you cut it). Thanks for backing me up, TotallyEffed. :)

Any date I have looked at still has a minimum ticket of five to $700 for the back row in the rear mezzanine on the left… I think the show is just fine being the star itself :)

The prices have just gone back to what they were before they announced the departure of the cast. People weren't paying $1000 at the beginning of 2016 either.

That's curious. Looks like ticket prices are indeed falling, but BWW also had an article about the gross being down for the show too.
That plus people have posted that the cancellation line has fallen off drastically since 7/9. Not sure what gives, but maybe with so many recently departed cast members, it is having an effect despite people who claim that the show is the star.

It's important to look at the average asking prices (and resale market prices) prior to any announcements of principal role departures. It spiked dramatically once those announcements began, and it is now leveling itself out again to the "old" prices. I'm not sure why people are being so dramatic here. Look at the numbers and you'll understand. They don't lie.

Honestly the dramatics are ridiculous. The grosses went down 0.4% from what was always going to be a huge week with the three leads leaving. It still made over $2 million and was only behind The Lion King. The cancellation line was getting too much and it's a great thing that people aren't staying in that for days on end anymore, if it hadn't have reduced then they would have had to get rid of it anyway. Every show is effected when its original leads leave, but Hamilton has absolutely no worries about maintaining its success considering it is sold out for almost a year in advance. If the show wasn't the star, then it wouldn't have sold so well in Chicago.
Yes, it seems that the Hamilton hype (at least for the Broadway production) has had its peak at the time of the Tonys and the last few weeks of the OBC. After 18 months, it was about time. Of course, once something has peaked there is nowhere to go but down, but there is nothing to suggest that Hamilton's hype is dramatically or rapidly decreasing.

WICKED opened on Broadway in October 2002. I know because I was there. Orchestra Center, Row G, seat 106. Laura Bell Bundy was Glinda at my performance.
@Brody, It's a sad journey to suggest a show opened at a different date than it did. There are in the world facts and guesses, and this one is an absolute fact.
Re Hamilton, as I have said before, the phase it is entering is healthier than the one it was in. You want a show to move beyond its initial white heat, because otherwise it will burn out. Hamilton will now settle into a very comfortable long run, lubricated by a nine figure advance. There is NO bad news here and only a fool would suggest otherwise. It is well to remember that the sum total of people who have seen Hamilton is less than a half million. That leaves a HUGE future audience. (Compare with the opening week audience of a middling film that disappoints its studio.

Hi there, this is the person who posted about the last minute ticket release on November 6th. I realize the ticket prices for that performance are different from the latest batch of ticket....and I was just wondering what the current price of front row mezz tickets are now? Are they still $199.00? I thought they jumped to the $500 level but wasn't sure if that was just premium tickets.
I purchased a few pairs and someone wants to buy them from me,
Thanks :)
