The most ive seen a show is 5 times Ive seen In the Heights, Hedwig, and Book of Mormon 5 times
I actually saw the most recent revival of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC 5 or 6 times.. I don't know.. I just love Sondheim and love that score. Never regretted the purchase.
"Everyone was just listing repeated occurrences. Very few actually saw a show more than 100 times."
Never mind. SMH
A husband and wife from Toronto saw The Phantom of the Opera dozens of times each. By now they may be over 100 performances. They met at a Phantom performance, and had a Phantom-themed wedding. I don't remember their names, but the story is probably in a newspaper archive on line.
Where it gets really weird is that when ALW announced Love Never Dies, they went ballistic. The previous US tour was still going (the one that ended in LA, with Tim Martin Gleason as the Phantom), and happened to be in Detroit, which isn't much of a schlep for Toronto residents. They decided to hand out leaflets in front of the theater objecting to the sequel. They may have been the ones who coined the expression "Love Should Die."
I'm very much a crazy phan, as many people on this board know. Now that I am retired from my law job, I'm in the process of launching a site and blog called "All Things Phantom" as well as recording You Tube videos about various Phantom-related topics. I'm unusual for a phan in that I started with seeing the 2004 movie, next saw the Las Vegas 95-minute version, and got around to the original stage musical last. I'm starting to lose track of how many times I've seen the show on stage, but here's what I think is a complete count, more or less in chronological order.
Las Vegas -- twice (both times with Anthony Crivello, once with Sierra Boggess, and once with Tim Martin Gleason as Raoul).
Second Tour -- twice (once in DC with John Cudia and Marni Raab, and once much later, in Baltimore, with Tim Martin Gleason and, I think Trista Mouldovan).
Broadway -- 4 times with Hugh Panaro (one of which was the 25th anniversary)
Broadway -- 1 time with Greg Mills covering for Hugh Panaro.
Broadway -- 1 time with Norm Lewis
Broadway -- 1 time with James Barbour
Current tour -- Philadelphia, with Allan Snyder covering for Cooper Grodin.
I have tickets to see the current tour next week and next month, with Chris Mann.
I guess that puts me at 13 times going on 15 for the ALW musical.
I've also seen the Yeston and Kopit Phantom musical once, and the Vox Lumiere version once.

I'm wondering if the people who have posted a list of every single musical they've ever seen actually think it's interesting, or that anyone cares.
i thought this was a thread about people that have seen shows over 100xs not people listing the number of times they've seen shows.
HAS ANYONE EVER SEEN A BROADWAY MUSICAL ?
I'm starting a thread within a thread for the slightly confused.
oh no, Sweet Lips, delete that immediately! please!
Well at least we know now why so much crap runs so long. Cannot solely blame the tourists for bad taste.
Since 1986, i've seen les Mis 33 times.... London, Broadway, Paris, Berlin, Manchester, Sydney....
^...and...?
@Jane - people obviously don't understand the title - btw I've enjoyed reading your posts over the years.
Question. Does being IN a show count as seeing a show over 100xs? If it does add "Mamma Mia!" To me seeing "Chicago" over 100xs
"@Jane - people obviously don't understand the title - btw I've enjoyed reading your posts over the years."
They don't understand the title? What's their average IQ, 4?
And they still continue to post their theater history no matter how many of us point out their errors. I can only hope that at this point, they're doing it to be obnoxious, and not because they're that dumb.
And thank you!

Cool! Mamma Mia is my all time favorite musical. Such a fun high energy show!
Americans humour was never their strong point....

"^...and...?"
and I'm STILL laughing...thanks J2 I needed that this morning.
This thread is unique--it's like a hyper kid in class 'pick me Miss pick me' and sprouts the first thing that comes into their head, no matter what the question.
That original poster must wonder what on earth they created--be careful what you wish for[or ask].

youre welcome I enjoy your hedwig comments
I saw John and Alley
Leaving off the very small handful of main stem shows I've worked on, Fun Home has it at 10 since the Public for me. I have a hard time imagining that I would be able to get fresh pleasure out of seeing a show ten times more than that, but more power to people who have so certainly found their joy.

I've seen 42nd Street once at Musical Theatre West here in Long Beach then the recent national tour, Hairspray on national tour, musical theatre west and a youth group in Fullerton so three times and Memphis national tour Fathom Events movie presentation and Musical Theatre West three times
I saw Next to Normal 8 times. Not because I liked the show, I just wanted to see Aaron Tveit pole dance and the rush tix were cheap. Oh, and I've only ever listened to his tracks on the cast album, so when I was on a roadtrip with my friend and we listehed to a Broadway playlist via Spotify, I could not for the life of me place songs from the show that did not feature Tveit. I regret nothing!
Ado Annie D'Ysquith said: "As much as I love musical theatre, I cannot fathom seeing the same show multiple times. ESPECIALLY if it's the same production. I can understand that if (for instance) you saw the OBP of A Little Night Music and then wanted to see the revival X amount of years later. That makes sense. But I see no point in doing so on a bigger scale than that. To me, a lot of the magic is lost. The only time I did it was for Cinderella on Broadway because I wanted to support my friend who joined the cast...
By the by, is anyone familiar with the traveling CATS superfan?"
With respect, Annie, I'd say your post disqualifies you as a serious musical theater fan. There are many, many things that can be seen only by visiting a great show multiple times. (I'm not talking about 500 or 1,000 times; that seems more like a fetish than an honest appreciation of the show.)
But because I was working the show, I saw Angela Lansbury in GYPSY nearly 40 times, and each time I learned something new about musical acting and singing. I later saw her in SWEENEY at least 10 or 12 times (thank you, TKTS!). And, yes, I've seen various productions of SWEENEY since, but you and I agree that's something different.
I hope you get the chance to see a show multiple times. It's the one thing I miss of the insanity of working tours and winter stock.
