She sounds great, unfortunately the movie looks as unnecessary as it is ugly.

I’m not convinced. I’m most likely going to avoid out of caution of franchise fatigue.

She sounds great, but can’t believe they’re remaking this when it’s barely been ten years. You would think they would’ve learned after Snow White.

At this rate in a few years they will have mined all their IP. They might actually be forced to make something new.

^ I had hoped Snow White would turn out a little better. I didn’t think the creative choices would get that far out of hand.

Me, too.

At first, I thought the opening music/vocals in the teaser were, "How Far I'll Go", but it's not. It's actually Moana's verse from, "I Am Moana (Song of the Ancestors)" It's a more introspective and reflective song than the follow up cut from "How Far I'll Go".

For me, I believe that lyric, "it calls me" is an important opportunity (albeit a very tiny one) for an actress to show their skills. It's only 3 words, but what do they mean in regards to Moana's connection with her island and the sea? How can an actress convey that depth of connection with only 3 words?

She's a lovely singer, but I feel like she fell short on that opportunity.

I think we're not focusing on the other big point here: the movie is being directed by Thomas Kail

That's kind of a Neg for him tbh. His first big Hollywood Gig is a hired Gun for a Live Action Disney Remake that asks absolutely nothing of him. These movies are fruitful stomping grounds for an AI director.

This looks like a completely uninspired film.

Without seeing the movie, or how it's been directed, that "big point" is kinda moot, right now.

Oh, that opening little introspective bit is lovely. She has acting chops.

I hope this is good. It's going to make big bucks at the box office no matter what, so I can only hope it's not another slop fest like the Lilo & Stitch remake.
