Then there are those people who believe that, in the film, Hedwig *dies* in the car crash and the rest of the film is a fantasy in her final moments.

"Who remembers that scene towards the end of the film when Hedwig holds the hand mirror to his face, and moves it over so that one half the reflection is his own, and the other half is Tommy"

A brilliant shot... the film is full of brilliant, simple things like that. Also with Hedwig leading Tommy through the endless hanging laundry.

"...everyone finally shut up, and the audience could enjoy the beginning of the Anatevka Pogram in peace."

I also came to check about the rush/SRO situation lately. I think I'm going to try for both on Saturday night - I'll report back.

To be clear, there is no rush only a lottery, so don't go there early. Here's the detail, in case it isn't earlier in this thread/buried:

ARE RUSH TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR THE SHOW?
A minimum of 20 tickets will be sold via lottery for each performance of Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Beginning two-and-a-half hours before every performance, patrons are invited to enter the lottery at the Belasco Theatre (111 West 44th Street). Winners will be drawn two hours before each performance. Each person will print their name and the number of tickets (1 or 2) they wish to purchase on a card that is provided. Entries will be collected and names will be drawn at random. Winners will then be able to purchase tickets at $37 each. All cards are checked for duplication prior to drawing. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and show valid ID to purchase tickets. Tickets may be purchased in cash or with a valid credit card. Limit one entry per person and two tickets per winner. Subject to availability. Seat locations may be partial view.

ARE STANDING ROOM TICKETS AVAILABLE FOR THE SHOW?
Standing room tickets will be available for purchase at the Belasco Theatre box office beginning 45 minutes prior to curtain on the day of the performance only, but only if the performance is otherwise sold out. The standing room ticket price is $29. Limit 2 tickets per person.

Thanks, haterobics! I tend to use "rush" as a catch-all, even while I know it's technically incorrect. I'm also just curious if they've started opening up SRO at all; when I was there on Tuesday, it looked like just creatives standing back there.

@center --actually you are technically correct. Lottery is a means of distributing rush tickets, not something different than rush.

And is this happening during "Sugar Daddy" like in the original?

Yes and yes, although which seat is Daddy's is seemingly random.

Y'all, I got humped by NPH last night, I like to **** twice and died!! OK, so it went down like this - I went to the first preview and loved it so much, I bought two more tickets for last night's performance. I took a friend for her birthday. I wasn't able to get two seats together up at the front left orchestra, but they were nearly together - BB 101 and BB3. So we get there, and my friend decides she'll risk getting spit on and takes BB101, which is the more central seat. I take BB3, and notice that BB1 (the seat where you're sometimes humped) is empty. That person never showed up, so halfway through "Origin of Love" I scoot over. I think it's during "Sugar Daddy" that he comes down into the audience, I was so excited I kind of blacked out? But he stands in front of me on the stage, says, "Hello" in that calm German accent, and proceeds to stand on my armrests. His legs were GORGEOUS. He then begins to hump my face (but not really) and grabs my ponytail (gently) and moves my head back and forth while barking, "Take it!" I've pretty much been touched by the Lord at this point. He hops over me and goes to rub the bald head of a man in mid orchestra, and I gleefully high-five my friend, who is sitting across the aisle from me. NPH sees this, strides back up the aisle, sits in her lap and rubs her chest. So we BOTH had NPH exncounters!! Best. Birthday. Ever!!!

I could tell he was paying a lot of attention to my friend throughout the show, because she stood out - she was the only black person in an overwhelming sea of whiteness, lol. He kept staring at her and doing the kissy lips from the very beginning. She had a ball, and I'm not going to wash my hair for a while.

Awesome Penny! Happy Birthday!!!

If I were you - I'd hand write a thank you to NPH and mail it to the theater.
Although not necessary - if I were him I would love to hear how great your experience was!

They should really have a photographer there to take pictures of those moments and then sell the pictures signed at some ridiculous amount.

I saw the show on Wednesday night (4/2) and had a really great time. I was unfamiliar with the material and ended up enjoying it a lot more than I was expecting. There are a lot of beautiful, thoughtful moments in the piece, even as it remains raucous and invigorating.

I had never been the biggest Neil Patrick Harris fan before (not because I disliked him, but simply because I hadn't seen much of his work), but he really won me over with this performance. There are clearly so many sides to Hedwig, and I thought he played them all beautifully. He was having so much fun with the audience and with the band, and I have no idea how he's able to deliver that energetic a performance night after night. While I have yet to see some of this season's musicals, I wouldn't be upset to see him win a Tony for this one. He was excellent.

I'm glad I caught this, especially this early in the run. It seemed like there were a lot of established Hedwig fans in the audience last night, and being around that kind of energy made the performance all that much more enjoyable.

Congratulations Penny, that's awesome!! You probably didn't need to move over, since there was no one sitting next to you, you were already chosen for him to hump you Hedwig Previews Great birthday present! Did you get those tickets right at the box office or on Telecharge? I sat in BB 101 and it doesn't seem to be available for the rest of the run. Thanks!

They seem to release some great front of house and side orchestra seats as dates approach, not sure if that is just for previews, or what the plan is. But no one (on here at least) who ended up in a great seat planned early.

The standard release for unused house seats is 98 hours prior to the performance so most shows tend to have some good seats become available at that point. Depending on demand, some shows will dump all of those into their stash of premium seats and try to sell them all at the higher price. Some will release some for general sale and some for premium.

It's not an entirely reliable way to get good seats because sometimes all house seats end up getting used. But that's the exception rather than the rule. If you have some flexibility/are willing to risk not finding seats and if you are willing to pay full price (because these released house seats are rarely, if ever, made available to the discount codes), it's not a bad system for making sure you get good seats for your money.

98 hours? That's weird. So, four days. Thanks.

Sutton, I got my tickets off Telecharge.com two nights beforehand. (Can I just say, Jesus Lord, what a buggy, frustrating website!!) I'd seen it opening night of previews from row G, right orchestra, and knew that a lot was happening over to the left front side of the house. That's where the actors come down into the audience. So when I saw those two seats pop up, I hopped on them immediately.

If I were you, I'd go to the box office and inquire about a particular seat, if I wanted one. It's way easier than struggling with that godawful website! Plus, no fees.

This is the only time in my life I will be able to look at the cover of TV Guide and say, "That guy humped my face."

Haha. That's awesome. When I was in the 101 seat on Monday, he gave me an air kiss and stuck out his tongue. I DIED. He was right there and he is just so incredibly talented. It was a perfect evening. Thanks for your information!
