I want (desperately) to see Hedwig before we leave town. Have gone over twice to wait in line for standing room and haven't gotten there early enough. Now that there is so much excitement over the show, I wonder what time would be almost guaranteed to get standing room? Matinee is at 2, is 7 too late (in the morning). And for the evening show, how is 4'ish?

I'm not one to go "AHH!! MULTIPLE THREAD! USE SEARCH FUNCTION!!" but when there is already another topic a few down, it's a little obnoxious.

Actually the one below has gotten off track and the subject and recent messages dont't say anything about standing room. Sorry you feel I was obnoxious but I was hoping someone may have some hints.

It states the lotto/SRO policy and not much else. It's only has 4 replies anyway. Hedwig Standing Room Sorry, I'm not a BroadwayWorld douche (in fact, I usually call people out when it's really bad) but IT IS RIGHT THERE. :P I didn't mean to say YOU were obnoxious, not at all. Just that it wasn't posted in the other thread. Hope you see the show! I can't wait to in June!

I was there yesterday for lotto and I heard the girl who was running lotto tell someone who asked that there were more people in line than there were tickets...this was at about 5:30 (for an 8 pm show). They seem to only be selling about 10 SRO spots, at least during previews.

Considering this is the only time there has ever been a 2 p.m. matinee in the entire run for the show, AFAIK, I'm not sure how anyone is supposed to know the answer. Usually they do a late show on Saturdays, not a matinee.

I decided that we were not leaving NYC without seeing it so I am in line. It's 8 now, been here since 7:30 and I'm all by myself so far. If anyone is crazy enough (like me). May be a good shot if oh come now!

^ Well done Debra, maybe you'll be standing next to JCM or Stephen Trask.

Being first in line can be annoying, especially until that second person shows up, but at least you know you're seeing it! Plus, you're probably seeing it with an Opening Night Playbill AND some theater critics there to review it, so you're seeing the finished product.

WOW! Had the best time! Not only was I first (the second folks came about an hour later), I won the lottery! Lucky day, highly recommend the show, NPH is incredible!

Has anyone done standing room lately? What time is good to get there for an evening show?

I did standing room on Saturday (a two-show day). For the 7 p.m. show, the first person on line got there at 11:30 a.m. It's hard to say for sure, but I would guess that if you got there by 2 p.m., you would have a good shot.

It's hard to estimate because people for the 7 p.m. show and people for the 10 p.m. show are on the same line.

For the 10 p.m. show, I would estimate that if you're there by around 4 p.m., you would get a standing room spot.

You can also enter the lotteries for both shows.

Are most Hedwig shows selling out these days?

I'm looking to do SRO on the August 10th 7 p.m. show. Can I buy SRO tickets for that performance in the morning or do I have to wait until later? I have a matinee to go to at 2:00 so I will only be able to go before that and around 4:00 after.

Yes, all performances for the remainder of Neil's run are essentially sold out with the exception of some premium tickets here and there.

Standing room goes on sale 45 minutes before curtain, and while I have not done it myself, there have been reports of others lining up as early as 8 am for a 7 pm performance. This is a very hot ticket.

If you get there at 4pm to get SRO for the 7pm performance you're going to have basically no chance at getting tickets unless a ton of people on the SRO win the lottery and drop off the line.

^ Which will never happen. People are devoting their entire day to get tickets.

I rushed Hedwig last week. The problem is that there can be very few spots available. The number changes, but last week I think there were 11 spots for the 7 pm show. That means that if there are five people ahead of you, you'll get the spat spot Isfahan everyone gets two tickets. I would recommend getting there around 7 am for the 7 pm show.

You recommend waiting 12 hours to try and get a ticket to a show? Even if it weren't 85 degrees out, it's nuts.

"You recommend waiting 12 hours to try and get a ticket to a show? Even if it weren't 85 degrees out, it's nuts."

That's what people have been doing.

I did SRO a couple of weeks ago. I got there around 5:30, right after they had did lotto for the 7PM Show. I was... somewhere around in the 20s in line. There were several SRO spots available for the 7PM show, and they sold a few cancellations as well. Before long I was being offered the last SRO spot for the 7PM show. Other people in line with me had convinced me that the 10PM show had a better energy, so I decided to wait for the 10PM show and also hopefully get a better spot. I ended up getting the 6th spot for 10PM show, and was right in the middle of the theatre.

The first person in line had been there since 10AM, and she was waiting for the 10PM show.

For people who are unable or unwilling to wait all day (and I can see how you wouldn't want to), it makes sense to try the lottery. The chances of getting tickets may be low, but you may be pleasantly surprised. For the 7 p.m. show, get there between 4:30 and 5 p.m. (don't be late) to put your name on the slip of paper. The drawing takes place promptly at 5. For the 10 p.m. show, get there between 7:30 and 8. Hey, someone has to win, right? Plus, the seats are sprinkled throughout the theater, so you may end up with a great view! Lottery winners can get two tickets each person.

I'm kind of in the same problem. I plan on seeing Hedwig on August 23. When Andrew Rannells is performing. Do you think it will still be as long of a wait? Also I kind of understand how the whole lottery and standing room only works but if someone would be kind enough to explain it again. Thanks!

As good as Rannells will be, in my opinion, I think rush and lottery will be considerably easier to win after NPH is gone. I do plan on making a repeat visit to see Rannells.
