He should make a video review of it. It'll go viral especially if he's wearing jaunty clothes.

Jonathan Groff! He's gay, cost effective AND family friendly thanks to Frozen."
Family-friendly? My three-year-old nephew would LOVE this show!
Touche. What I was thinking was more "middle-America" friendly. You got to have someone palatable to the masses in order for them to swallow Hedwig. So to speak.

There is no such thing yet. Just something people keep talking about.
Never said it won't happen,@_nellie12, but there is no actual plan now,@playbill @HedwigOnBway Hopefully we can make one.

So far, there is only one known tour location, San Francisco? I hope they announce other cities sometime this year.
So the time period for the SF location is only for one month, October 2016. At first, I wondered if it was even necessary to get an actor who is fairly well known, since the time period is so short. But then I looked up the capacity of the two theaters owned by SHN that are listed on their home page: The Orpheum Theatre and The Golden Gate Theatre. They both are larger than the Belasco. Both the Orpheum Theatre and the Golden Gate Theatre seem to seat over 2,000.
What do you all think? Do you think they need an actor who is fairly well known, or will people in the Bay Area/West Coast mostly come to see the musical itself, especially given that the time period is so short, even if the actor is not so well known?

They also put up shows in their smaller theater, the Curran, which is where I would expect Hedwig to play.
Update: Oops, looks like they lost that theater in a recent management departure. But she could still rent it to them at that point, as the renovation would seemingly be finished right around the time of Hedwig: http://www.sfgate.com/performance/article/Shorenstein-Hays-has-exciting-plans-for-the-6299501.php

YES! Something along those lines.

Probably the latter, though the former wouldn't hurt.
It would be nice if somehow this could happen at the Post Street Theatre (which is now the SF Playhouse), but I guess not.

It's a tough call. Will Hedwig travel better on the strength of the accolades the Neil Patrick Harris production? The tour for the original production made it one stop. Lucky for me it was my city. The LA production fizzled out. The mainstream awards could do it.
The LA show wasn't successful, neither was London, and Boston wasn't exactly a hit.
I wish it luck this time around.
The tour dynamics will change things a bit, since they will be going into houses with large subscriber bases. So, you don't necessarily need a huge name to sell every seat... unlike NYC.

Boston was the tour. It just never moved on. I chatted with Kevin Cahoon after the last performance and he was a doll.
Oh, ok, Namo. I didn't realize it was the tour. Yeah, Kevin's a sweetie.

What were the time periods of the Boston tour? Or of the L.A. and London shows? Because if the dates were a while ago, then things have changed, and maybe more of the mainstream audience would be more interested in Hedwig than they were at an earlier date?
Yes Yes the closing of Hedwig is indeed a sad time for all the strange rock n rollers. But the important thing to remember is that Lion King is still open!! I mean, that's really all that matters, right?

What will make the tour work, as opposed to tge failed spin offs of the original production, is the praise that rained down on the Tony--winning Neil Patrick Hartis and his triumphant star turn on Broadway. That's what it was, that was what it was designed to be, and that's why it recouped.

A friend of mine is working on the tour costumes. I can ask who he is measuring next time I see him. He may not tell me, but no harm in asking.

I know the off-Broadway production won the Outer Critics Circle Awards and the Obie Award. But for the Broadway production, as well as NPH and Lena, to win Tony Awards probably raised the production's visibility to the mainstream audience. The show has continued to win so much respect, which is a positive for the tour. brdway411, it doesn't hurt to ask.

Just remembered a bit of Kevin Cahoon trivia. He was a winner in the singing category of the original Star Search show. The one with Ed McMahon. Kevin was around 9 or 11. And I remember watching that very show! oy.
I looked it up. Kevin was 13, and he was the grand champion!

Do you sit at home and pray for the day that somebody, anybody will love you for who you are? Do you break down when your internet connection goes down and you can't reach for your smart phone to jump on every thread on Broadway World? Namo are you ok?
You have gone from mildly irritating to grand levels of annoying. You seem to constantly want to jump on every other person who shows passion or love for something or someone. They become obsessed, scary, stupid etc in your eyes, so you enter the thread and then bash away, even coming out with absurd comments about racism like in this one (nobody on here thought this had anything to do with an African American Hedwig, just some thought his performance has done the show no favours), bringing up racism says more about you. If people don't pay attention though it's fine, you just post something else passive aggresive or try to come across as smarter than others by typing well crafted sentences that often have little reality to do with whatever it is you or others are talking about. You spend so much time on here acting like a nasty, snarky jumped up nobody that I get concerned for your actual life away from here.
But that's just it songandanceman2. Namo HAS NO LIFE. He lives, breathes, eats and sh*ts here. I have that b*tch blocked and for some reason he still was able to PM me his bile filled message, which in all honesty was really ****ing hilarious because I really hit a nerve!! He was and always will be to me a sad, pathetic, anonymous message board QUEEN.
That's some serious glitch that a blocked user can still PM you. BroadwayWorld needs to fix that right quick.
