He's directing the movie version of Neil Gaiman's "How To Talk To Girls at Parties." In fact, he and Neil were both outside the New York Public Library this evening to see Amanda F**king Palmer do some performance art/book donation thing where she was 8 months pregnant, nearly naked, and body painted with a big sword or somesuch. I thought he might be there, but I didn't go... heh.

Thanks, hater.
Clyde... I'd reply with something snarky, but considering you're named after one of my FAVORITE BROADWAY MUSICALS EVER, I'll let it slide...
How 'bout a truce?
Still not sure the show is actually running in the red yet at 400K gross/week. I suspect with the declining box office trend of the last 3 Hedwigs (JCM, Darren Criss, and now Taye Diggs), the producers didn't see any thing that would increase the box office (including being able to snag a big star) but would just continue the decline until they would be losing money.
Even JCM box office dipped numbers from Michael C. Hall.
A year and a half run for a revival sounds just about par for the course.

John had the strangest box office of all Hedwigs, since he had the unique ability to sell premium seats even when a huge chunk of the orchestra was still available at a discount and unsold. I saw him once when the last five rows of the side orchestra were empty. The Hed-heads didn't just want to see him, they wanted to be as close as possible, even if that meant $200 rather than $99 a few rows back. But, beyond that, he isn't a name and made less of a dent on the TKTS crowd.
It is interesting how when he was announced, people on here were saying it was smart to book him during the winter months when less people go to shows in general, but the rabid fans would show up to see him, and then after that dip, they could get another name in the role... and now in hindsight, that element has disappeared, and he started the decline.
The show clearly has insight into the rest of Taye's run as far as advanced sales, and if there is no major replacement lined up, why start losing money if they were just going to close in October anyway?
"Does anyone have updates on what JCM is currently working on or planning to work on? I am preparing for a life without Hedwig at the Belascooo Theater, now that Taye Diggs' unprepared performance caused the show to close early. As each day approaches, I get sadder and sadder. I need some JCM news in my life!! Is he working on a show? A concert? My friend saw him on the subway the other day and I got SO MAD at him for not asking him what his plans are!! I haven't felt this vulnerable since Lena Hall announced she's leaving the show. I really love Hedwig"
Does anyone know what type of underwear JCM wears and what he had for breakfast?! I really need to know. Thanks!

Everything from week 17 on was a BONUS. That it ran as long as it did was remarkable. So many people got exposed to Hedwig. Or, a few people got exposed to Hedwig hundreds of times. The closing does not mean the piece vanishes from existence. In fact, its incredible success on Broadway likely means it will thrive in a way it didn't in the years after the original production closed.
I was taking a whizz in the Belasco gentlemen's lounge after seeing JCM the night before he left for surgery. This horrible queen made his friend not say the name "Neil Patrick Harris" out loud and I wanted to smash half a grapefruit, Manchurian Candidate-style, into his smug little face. Without NPH, this production wouldn't have existed.
Even if you hated him, you owe him thanks.

The late show? I went to that show, as well... just in case that was his last one. ![]()

Pretty much what Stephen tweeted yesterday:
We never had a plan past Neil. The rest is bonus and I’m grateful for it all. Daily Iambic Pentameter #64 4 the HedHeads & @HedwigOnBway

Hamilton, I'm throwin' away your cheap shot.

You set the tone with your cheap shot.
"I am preparing for a life without Hedwig at the Belascooo Theater, now that Taye Diggs' unprepared performance caused the show to close early."
Oh, right. His performance was so masterfully crafted, so overwhelmingly powerful, the show's only choice was to close early.

How can a show meant to run 16 weeks close early after a year and a half?
YOU are making a cheap shot.
None of the other Hedwigs' run ended early. Just sayin', Felicia.
Your love of the production cannot change the fact the show has had flagging sales for much of the calendar year. True, Diggs did not revitalize the box office. But a month of his performance did not scuttle the production entirely. To scapegoat him because of your attachment to the show is misguided.

You can't see the forest for your one stupid tree.
Your shot was cheap, and one that flies in the face of everything the creative team has said about the closing. And you're probably one of those evil twits whose life was profoundly changed by the show's message of love and acceptance, right?????
Hedwig would tell you to put down your hands.
I'm not so sure Taye didn't cause the show to close, although as I said before, it isn't his fault entirely. After all, those who hired him put him on the stage.
If Taye's run had ended on time I wouldn't be firing these shots. I think the fact that it is closing early says a lot about the quality of his performance. The fact that they announced it was ending early one day after the NY Post's scathing review is a point even your Naive Goggles should be able to see.
I don't mean to cause a scuffle, guys, but I think we can all be a little more honest than not. Also, come on. Hedwig would be the first to add a Taye Diggs joke to his monologue.

I just love the entitlement of the people who are going to veritably shrivel up and die because the show is closing, even though they went on the attack with the bad word of mouth from the minute Taye Diggs floated down to the stage. They can't expect to talk trash as much as they want AND count on the show always being there for them in their seemingly endless hours of need.
We went on the attack because the quality of the show greatly suffered during Taye's run. Sorry but I saw the show EIGHT TIMES. I know a good version of Hedwig when I see one. I'm supposed to lift up my hands and celebrate poor quality? Okay.
Also this board is one of the cattiest places I know, so don't even try to play the love and acceptance card.

My point was you took a cheap shot, regardless of how you arrived at it. And then you were a baby about another person poking gentle fun at your post about how you can POSSIBLY survive the closing of a show. You helped it close!!!
You're going to blame me for helping it close? I may have taken a cheap shot, but your argument is worth less than anything you'd find at the 99 cent store.
I'm officially done with this feud.

One Post article didn't do half the damage you and your friends who trashed Taye from the get go did. It's way more your fault than an article in a newspaper none of the show's prospective audience reads.
You have blood on your hands and Hedwig has tears in her eyes.
It's always nails on a chalkboard when fans get too attached and obsessed about a show and start spouting nonsensical statements thinking they are justified in them only because they have a personal connection to that certain show. Like it's somehow their right to blame anything and anyone about a show closing, when the reality is, many factors go into a shows being closed.
Like others have said, Hedwig was never going to run 5 years. It's not built for that. I don't mind people grieving about Hedwig closing, but some of these Hedheads are transitioning into hysteria mode. The delusion is real.
