It is, sadly... but pay him no attention. He is a depressed, oppressed, over-the-hill queen who has no love life, no friends and no family. He spends more time on here than the real world and obsesses over a society that he cannot change just by refusing to sit on non-diverse panels."
Were you referring to Namo, because that assessment is spot on.

Yes, sir. I absolutely was. Thank you, Carlos.
STOP THE INSANITY!!!
We are all losing something near and dear to our hearts and I know some emotions are high but don't gang up on each other!
Yes, there are people who are diehard till the end Hedheads who have seen it from the beginning. There are also people (myself included) whose first experience was seeing it on Broadway and falling in love with the show. I went to see the show because I love NPH and saw his performance at the Tony's and was like, "Wow, I really want to see that show. It looks great" Never in a million years did I think I would fall so deep for this amazing, beautiful show. It has changed my life and I am so thankful for it. So yes, there are people in the theatre who may not "get it" when it comes to the show but give them a chance because they may turn into a huge fan.
With that said, stop arguing over silliness and instead talk about how much we love this show and are so grateful to have it in our lives.
HOLD ON TO EACH OTHER!

Any talk of touring? Didn't want to read 8 pages.
Yes.

The people blaming Taye for the closure of Hedwig really need to get a grip on reality.
I won't go into detail, but the Hedwig team was already aware that Hedwig would most likely be on it's last leg even before Taye started his performances.
Get a grip.

Those are the two acceptable topics?

Taye knew his run would end in September?!

Duh, haterobics. But he won't go into detail about this frivolity.

Who was Hedwig when it happened, though?

Don't be insufferable.
Actually, they likely didn't know it would close before Taye. I ran into Stephen by the downstairs bar in July and he told me they were already looking at someone for after Taye.

Frankly I haven't seen that many comments blaming Taye Diggs, but I think there was a confluence of factors of which he was one. From most reports, he hasn't been the best carrier of the Hedwig torch even though I do believe he is improving according to comments I've read recently. If he had been terrific, I believe it might have delayed the closing for awhile. However, I don't know for sure. I honestly wish there had not been all these doubts about his performance. Part of the problem (IMO) was that expectations of his ability were too high. I went back and read some of the comments on this board, and people were singing his praises before he placed one foot on stage. He was part of that machine as well. Whether he was serious or not, he told people how wonderful he was going to be so he helped reinforce the idea that he was going to be a masterful Hedwig. I have never been that big a fan of Taye Diggs. I did see him in Rent, and he was good, but I haven't seen anything since that would lead me to believe he would be an exceptional Hedwig. I also don't think he's that well known. I think he's pretty much like the others --- known in certain circles. I live in the center of the country, and I'm older. I'm much more aware of what Michael C. Hall and Darren Criss have done. Of course, I also am aware of NPH, but Taye Diggs - not so much. He was on Grey's Anatomy, right? Or was he? Anyway, I do agree you can't lay all the blame at his feet. However, he does share responsibility...and I would say that no matter who was playing Hedwig if the reviews and numbers were similar.
Does anyone have updates on what JCM is currently working on or planning to work on? I am preparing for a life without Hedwig at the Belascooo Theater, now that Taye Diggs' unprepared performance caused the show to close early. As each day approaches, I get sadder and sadder. I need some JCM news in my life!! Is he working on a show? A concert? My friend saw him on the subway the other day and I got SO MAD at him for not asking him what his plans are!! I haven't felt this vulnerable since Lena Hall announced she's leaving the show. I really love Hedwig
And if they had lined up a great replacement , they'd have kept the show open.
Face it: this was never going to be a long running revival. It ran the natural course for revivals...a good year and a half.
", stop arguing over silliness"
I'm sorry if anyone thinks the point I'm arguing is silly because it's anything but.

"I'm being snarky about people who choose to bond over shared memories of a show and condescendingly exclude those who aren't a part of that."
Some of you are real dicks, you know that, right?
One can bond over shared memories of a show without being condescending. One can really like and respect the work that JCM has done without automatically being labeled a rabid fan, but many of you seem to miss that point. I'd love to know what he's working on, not because I'm some pathetic assclown with no life, but because I enjoy his work.
" stop arguing over silliness"
And because you don't relate to something being discussed, you dismiss it as silliness. Not too judgmental now, are we?

Err... He's 5 weeks into his run and he just made up the words to Wicked Little Town Reprise the other night.
"I honestly wish there had not been all these doubts about his performance."
I'm not doubting his ability. I went and saw his performance, and it wasn't there.
