Dancing at Lughnasa also came over in tact (and then after three months was replaced by an American cast -- all of whom were solid, but the magic disappeared from the piece). Vincent in Brixton, Closer, Beauty Queen of Leenane and Lonesome West also, I think, all had their original British casts.
Wasn't Clive Owen in the original West End cast of CLOSER, playing Dan rather than Larry?

Not sure. I know most of the cast came over.
Speaking of Irish plays that I've done...
...wasn't The Weir pretty much intact, too?

I think so.
Just looked it up:
CLOSER IN LONDON:
Clive Owen
Liza Walker
Sally Dexter
Ciarin Hinds
CLOSER ON BROADWAY:
Anna Friel
Rupert Graves
Natasha Richardson
Ciarin Hinds
I think only half of the original leads in ClOSER came over - Sally Dexter and Clive Owen weren't on Broadway
I am so looking forward to seeing this next week.
Francis is SO very funny!
In the scene wheres she talks about her first pizza...
HAHA
Something like:
"...and OTHER things. [Pause.] But it's the pizza I remember."
(Or is "one remembers"?)
Have y'all seen this?? Good times!!

I'm feeling very emotional after reading all those reviews. I love this play so much. Am very jealous of you guys having it over there now. I want them back here.
Hee, the line is "...but it's the pizza that stands out."
I loved it when she was talking about men throughout history. She's fantastic!
Getting tickets this week to see it in June. Can't wait!
joshy, we need to get ourselves over to NY!!
I'm so glad it's getting good review, so proud and happy for everyone involved in the play.

I think we need a History Boys Fanatic meet up and History Boys viewing party
What fun! We totally should, C-Q!
Ahhh....I'd definitely be up for a History Boys viewing party!!!!
Anyway...there's a fantastic article on the Boys in the NY Times today if anyone was interested. After reading the article today its safe to say I love the boys even more so now (if that was at all possible!!)
Thanks for the heads-up on the article. I'll have to pick up a copy of the Times when I run over to school...What a fun article. They sound like quite the bunch to be out and about with! But our poor Rudge: "Russell Tovey is represented by his pointing hand" (in the picture). Very sad.
Russell Tovey's photo was prominently featured with the NY Times review on Monday. So, perhaps the Times editors were spreading it around a bit.
They were out of papers when I went to school yesterday (then, of course, I forgot to pick a copy up after my evening class), so I wasn't able to see what they had for photographs with the review...sounds like they are indeed spreading the love.
Just thought he's "being represented by his pointing hand" was kind of funny. Couldn't sqeeze all 8 in, I suppose.

Ah, thanks guys! Sure, I could have looked it up myself, but where' the fun in that?!?
ETA: What a dolt! I read the times review online and took note of that picture, since Rudi Dharmalingam in it, which sparked my whole "what happened to Samuel Anderson?" bit. Finals are doing a number on me folks.
