Is this basically their recoupment announcement?

As per the article:

As for Hamilton, those who sunk money into Lin-Manuel Miranda's innovative chronicle of America's first Treasury secretary reportedly already have been made whole.

In other words investors in the show have recouped their money, and the show hasn't even been running a year on Broadway.

As per the article:

Lin-Manuel makes roughly 105,000 dollars A WEEK in royalties - - - that's not including his salary for starring in the show itself. That's a nice chunk of change right there. The man makes more IN A WEEK than most people make IN A YEAR.

Homeboy has got it made.

It doesn't source it though. It mentions the Broadway Journal article and then can't confirm it. "reportedly" is not really an answer.

As per the article:

After royalties are paid, the remainder — around $600,000 a week — returns to the investors until their $12.5 million capitalization is fully recouped. That apparently has happened, according to a March report on the website Broadway Journal (producers have not confirmed it).

Nowhere in that sentence does the word "reportedly" appear, It just states that producers have not confirmed it.

No matter how you slice it, there is one thing that is indisputable: HAMILTON is making money and investors will see (or have already seen) a 100% return on their investment.

This was a very interesting read. I never knew how these kinda things worked. I guess Schwartz must be making bank of Wicked which is why he hasn't written another musical yet lol. I'm confused it said at first he makes 105k in royalties but then later it says that the shows massive success makes it so he would have upped it to 160 k either way that a lot. More than a lot make in a year lmao. also after recoupment he makes 3% of the net gross.

Also is this all guestimation? I mean they don't REALLY KNOW. I wonder how much Ron Chernow gets paid.

neon, it's called math. they obviously chose not to make an official recoupment announcement-there is no reason they need to. the source said the show had recouped (which was not news for the same reason), not that there had been a distribution of the capitalization. An educated guess would be that there has been, because there is far more than that available for the production's additional (and substantial) capital needs.

Honey he makes that in A WEEK. not a year. they figured it out using math would be my guess. grosses are public info, I assume someone gave them info on who gets what percentage. good on them for makin that bank!

No, what it says is that the royalty pool, which would have resulted in the higher number, was NOT implemented.

"Also is this all guestimation? I mean they don't REALLY KNOW. "

The article was written based on the offering papers. The only inexactitude (and it is based on info that has been made public by the production) is the approximate nut.

"I wonder how much Ron Chernow gets paid. "

Based on LMM's royalty I would estimate around 1%.

I wonder if the production team is offering the ensemble rates more than the equity minimum. Doesn't wicked do that?

tl;dr: Hamilton is raking it in and so is everyone involved.

As originators of the show, they were all given bonuses last fall; if memory serves, $35,000 was the figure quoted.

ohhh I misread, I thought you said a lot make more than that in a year.

So how much do we think Lin is making a week now? I assume they've recouped so his royalty would be 10%, plus his salary as star, I'd guess around $200k a week

That's what I was talking about. Everyone calm down.

I'm well aware of math and recoupment, but thanks for talking down to me. My point was literally just that they have not made an official announcement.

neon, it's all good. I think you can go back and reread #7 and see why folks might reasonably think you were saying something other than what you intended.

^ ^ ^ Yes basically this and no one was talking down to you neon.

I was just clarifying what I was quoting versus how you responded. Next time do yourself a favor and write the quote you're referring to in your post to avoid any misunderstandings, again not talking down to you, just giving you some advice.

Regarding the cast, from the NYT's recent article on Jeffrey Seller:

Last fall, it was reported that members of the cast asked Seller for a share of the gross, though they are not owed that by contract. “They are the ones bringing this show to life,” he told me. “It was a powerful argument they made; it was gut-wrenching for me, and I took it seriously.” (He would not give specifics but said that he had reached an agreement and that the matter was resolved, at least for now.) Most cast members are working on 52-week contracts, which began July 13, the first day of Broadway previews, and those who intend to stay will soon be negotiating new deals.

I doubt there are many, if any, members of that ensemble pulling in less than 2k weekly.

Obviously not the numbers LMM is pulling in- as creator and star- but also nothing to scoff at.
