Yes, I know that this musical took place five years ago. What are the chances?

A friend of mine was in the cast. He said it was DOA.
This project is long dead - it received mixed reviews in NJ, and I don’t think it’s had a professional future after that run.
And the all-white principal cast and core creative team wouldn’t help matters.
Slim to zero chance? The Paper Mill production didn't really make a case for it as a great piece of theatre (and it had already been in development for 5-10 years before Paper Mill), and any iconography attached to the TV series is obsolete to modern audiences.
Out of curiosity, what is your obsession with this particular show? In a matter of days you've posted multiple threads about it.

This show will never play Broadway.

Because it was based on the hit sitcom from the 50's and the cast was all white - nothing wrong with that and the musical was inspired on that classic series. We don't have to change every character and just make them black as the all-white cast had nothing to do with it on not coming to Broadway. It just stayed in NJ and had no future!
I think the point was...that now, 5 years later, an all white cast might create a bigger obstacle.
I think what Robbie2 was trying to say is that he is an 85 year-old white man who comes up from Florida once or twice a year to see Broadway musicals and even though most of his peers in the target demographic for this show are now deceased, he feels that he deserves at least one more musical like they used to make ‘em in the good old days.

What if Alice Kramden was played by Julie Benko? Any chance then?

I guess the answer is no. Thanks
The production at Papermill was horrendous. I can't even see regional theaters going after this one.

Remember, it doesn't have to be great to play Broadway.
It's all bout raising the money and getting a theatre - $$$$$$$

Did you see the show? Have you heard the score?

It was just an overlong episode of The Honeymooners WITH SONGS! What's the audience for that?!

As I recall, there was a TV musical about YHE HONEYMOONERS in the 60's. Sheila MacRea played Alice but the rest of the cast were the originals.
It was boring.

Always appreciate your posts Distinctive, but this is mean and unnecessary.

My father is 80-year-old white man who lives in Florida and he would have no desire to see musical adaptation of "The Honeymooners". Like most people, he has expressed interest in seeing shows like "Six" and "Into the Woods". He said he would even go with me to see "Almost Famous" if we can both make it up to NYC at the end of the year.

I mean if that Hee Haw musical can make it to Broadway (to quote Alaska) “anus thing is possible.”
I saw it at the Papermill and didn’t think it was even good enough for that theater. Michael McGrath was great, though. Too bad he didn’t get a chance in a better production.

I saw it at Papermill....it needed a lot of work. A great title - but not much else going for it.
