Yeah, I had heard that High Fidelity was eyeing the Imperial.

"High Fidelity should go into the Eugene O'Neill when Sweeney closes. A nice small theater."
I think Spring Awakening is going to the O'Neil.

I adore GodIHopeIGetIt becuase she made a completely new thread inside of a thread. GO HER!
And, yes, ther is much room left in the hole where I will be hiding when Paris hits Broadway. Who else wants to join me??

Haha, I have the insane spontaneity to be.. spontaneous? I just live in my own world. Or, in our concept, my own little hole.
I don't think they would want High Fidelity at the O'Neil... they probably want it to be a big splashy thing.. I personally think the Hirschfield.

Posted: 8/10/06 at 4:06pmYou can't compare the DRS situation to the Producers'. The Producers recouped years ago and has many millions of dollars in the bank, so it's not a big deal if it loses a couple of thousand a week here and a week there. DRS not only hasn't recouped, it's been losing tens of thousands of dollars some weeks and doesn't have a huge reserve set aside like the Producers. At this rate, it not only will never recoup, it's costing its investors even more out of pocket just to keep it running. I won't speculate on when it will close, but January sounds optimistic to me.

Tick Tick Boom isn't gonna hit Broadway any time soon.
I agree with Margo.
#58re: How Much Longer for DRS?
Posted: 8/10/06 at 4:11pmMost definately DRS isn't like the Producers. People need to stop comparing them. DRS is its' own show.

Posted: 8/10/06 at 4:18pmI also agree with everything Margo said ; DRS and The Producers are in two different boats, and The Producers is definatly in the better boat. I wonder if DRS will try stunt casting to improve their box office, now that the grosses have gotten so low.
#60re: How Much Longer for DRS?
Posted: 8/10/06 at 4:19pmI don't even think they'll be open long enough to attempt stunt casting.

Your double post senses were tingling.
If they DO stunt cast, who do you think that they should hire?

Posted: 8/10/06 at 4:42pmThis is not a mean spirited thread. It is just the way the show is flowing. The new cast is fine but there is not a big (enough) name to draw people in. Though I do not think it can be accurately measured in B.O. sales, Norbert, the two Johns, and Greg were many reasons people went back and now that they are gone, many fans (I know several) are not very keen on going back. And this show needs strong word of mouth. Its a shame because the material is certainly strong enough to keep the show afloat. I just have to be sadly realistic.

Dakota Fanning as Christine.
Yes, SirLiir, it is indeed very sad to see such material go to waste, or be lost.

When I mention THE PRODUCERS, I am only comparing it to the fact that when Nathan & Matthew left, people thought it would close within a few months. It did not.
It had a while at the box-office like DRS is having now, but it survived.
And yes I know they are different shows and "in different boats." They are very different shows with different backers, audiences, ect...
I am merely saying there is hope
#70re: How Much Longer for DRS?
Posted: 8/10/06 at 5:03pmIT's always good to stay positive.DRS just doesn't seem like it has the "Broadway sstick" like Avenue Q or RENT has.

Norbert Leo as Christine.
Dear god, I think she's got it!
#72re: How Much Longer for DRS?
Posted: 8/10/06 at 6:55pmWhat was the cost of DRS? I wonder why it hasn't recouped...
#73re: How Much Longer for DRS?
Posted: 8/10/06 at 7:57pmCould they possibly get Norbert to come back to DRS on Broadway? That would be a coup for the show and I am sure he misses it.
#74re: How Much Longer for DRS?
Posted: 8/10/06 at 8:08pmDRS hasn't recooped yet? i thought they had. hmm... anyway, it will be sad when it does close. DRS is my all time favorite show. as for bringing Norbert back, i think the man needs a break. he's done the show for how long now and is doing the tour for a while. give him some time off.

Well, Norbert:
1) just left
2) is doing the DRS tour till October
and
3)knows that Brian D'Arcy James is doing a fine job as Freddy.
As I said previously, I feel the worry is not because the new cast isn't doing their job. It is just that it lacks some draw now.
