I'm going to see Seussical tonight being done by a local high school's summer stock program. Is it a show to look forward to? Whats it like? I'm just curious because I know it wasn't the biggest success commercially but a lot of theatres have been doing it

The question to be asked actually should be "how bad is Seussical?"

I liked it, was cute....some of the songs are moving......I totally enjoyed it. Is it great theater, no......but it's a hell of a lot of fun
I figured I will enjoy it too. I just always saw pictures of it, but never heard any of the songs or reviews for that matter, so I never knew what it was like as a whole

i think the score is fun... not as good as ahrens and flaherty's other efforts, but it's still better than some unnecessary works out there...

It depends how talented these students are.
The show is okay, it all just depends on the cast really. The score is fun, I think. But seriously, in the world of musical theatre, I'm only puzzled by two people ahrens and flaherty...I don't understand how they can compose such mindless fun for seussical, and then such a compelling score for Ragtime...that just amazes me...That would be like George M. Cohan writing rap songs.
A FABULOUS, FUN show! It may not be "great" but it's VERY enjoyable. GREAT music! Fun, cute story not just for children, but for anyone.
Thanks for the feedback everyone, I really appreciate it
Ive never seen it, but I think it's adorable, fun, sweet and at times heartwrenching and beautiful. Don't go in expecting Les Mis, but from what I gather, it's wonderful for what it's worth.
I have seen it twice, it delivers a really cool message. I think it was mostly made just for kids though, at times its a little cheezy but its an ok show if the cast is good.
its cute
Really, really fun and moving musical. Great music, lively characters, and many relatable messages. Disgustingly underrated.
I'm actually doing it right now and have seen it and think it's a cool show. It's just kinda fun, nothin awesome, but a fun show and enjoyable to watch.
I love actually being in it as well, it's just fun. It's not the most touching play in the world or amazing in anyway, but it's fun, entertaining and lively.
I just hope when we perform it that people enjoy it... but who knows. I'll just give it my all and hope everyone likes it.

Agree with the other posters. I found "Seussical" sweet, enjoyable and really fun. Quiet touching in parts ("Alone in the Universe" & "Solla Solew" are pretty sweet and touching). Also "Chasing the Whos" has always been one of the more entertaining group ensamble songs out there.
It isn't Sondheim, heck it isn't Schwartz, but it pretty damn fun all the same.
Okay so I saw it last night, found the production of it to be disorganized and I found they couldve picked better people for some of the roles. They had a duo of two little white girls who could definitely belt for the Sour Kangaroos and when they would harmonize, it was really awesome. Horton was effortless, and they had a little girl play JoJo, which is understandable, but still annoying. It was definitely sweet and just pretty uplifting. Oh I love the character of Gertrude McSwan, the girl who played her was magnificant but she was always singing in her head voice so it was a little hard to understand the words. I did like it, it was a good length, like only 2 hours with intermission included so I wasn't unhappy I went. Thanks guys for all the feedback
