How is "Hot Feet" still running?

Ok - seriously. How is it possible for "Hot Feet" to be running after four weeks of playing at less than a 40% attendance for the past four weeks?
This producer must be REALLY good at his job.

I'm very theatre literate and I cannot tell you anything of this show.
All I know is that I sure can't wait for the Grinch!

Posted: 7/6/06 at 12:37amIt amazes me that this show can run for as long as it has, but shows like Lestat that were actually selling somewhat decent - compared to 30% - can't sustain a run longer than a month?

I guess the producers have deep enough pockets not to care how much money it's losing every week.
Hey, it keeps people employed.

Yes, it keeps people employed, but it also prohibits another quality show from being produced on Broadway because it's taking up a theater.
I think it's time to let Hot Feet cool off.

Prohibits another quality show to come in?
Do you know what is booked next?
Maybe Ring of Fire II? Now that's quality.

I'm just saying that there is plenty of material out there in the world that is wonderful and should be playing a Broadway theater, but instead, we have stuff like Hot Feet occupying the limited number of spaces. Something about that doesn't seem right.
I'm not saying that there is a particular work that should be there; just that there has GOT to be something better than Hot Feet that actually deserves a Broadway run.

Posted: 7/6/06 at 3:20amI still giggle when I think back to a thread (honestly don't remember who/what/when) where someone said "HOT FEET will be just as popular and successful as WICKED."

Posted: 7/6/06 at 5:32amI just hope it lasts until I can get there next month to say I saw it!!

Posted: 7/6/06 at 12:43pmI saw it on June 14th. It really is not a good show. However the band and the off-stage vocalists are wonderful. I would actually buy a CD of the music if one came out. I am a really huge EWF fan, but this show should have just been a dance show. And choreographed by someone else.

really HATING myself for overanalyzing the show at the moment- let alone thinking about it AT ALL, but I am in need of an explanation.
SPOILERS. Oh, who am I kidding... if you're naive enough to care, then you're doomed to begin with...
ok, she died, I get it. But was she really there in the beginning? Did girl dancer protege actually see her?

Posted: 7/6/06 at 3:17pmAre there just people with tons of money out there that have no idea about theatre that will produce something if someone convinces them it'll be a hit? Why would you put so much money into something you know so little about?

They seemed pretty serious to me, and it wasn't a poster who is known for faux-liking of shows or anything like that. I was laughing so hard when I read that post.

How can Hot Feet keep running? Take a look at the producers' names, and there is a big corporate entity called Transamerica that just might need a tax loss for the year.
Tis rumored the show just got a one mil injection. Of course at the rate they are going even with royalty waivers and rent reductions, a mil will last 3-4 weeks.
Two time Tony winner and all around great character actor, the late Hiram Sherman said, "I love theatre. Its show business I can't stand."
