I'm no Broadway gross analyst, but looking at the box office results, it's already making less than 70% of it's potential gross. Cats is definitely not a cheap musical to put on, and I can't see the show making it to the Tony Awards. How long do you think it's got?

I'd say wait until Lewis leaves. If they don't replace her with another pop star but rather a name actress, it could bring more money in.

It's scheduled to January 15th...
I'd be very surprised if it closed before that, doubtful they would miss out on the holiday period...
The question is whether it extends past 1/15/17...

^ I was thinking the same. I don't see it lasting much longer than January.

10086 is 100.86% right.
That said, the percentages don't mean a lot: it's the gross itself that counts and at the current level they are surely making bank. gross % tells you how much you didn't make, but not how much you did.
It's rather nice to speculate, I suppose, [guess?--and then can say, 'see,I was right'] but that crystal ball doesn't exist and those with the money[-or without] will be the ones to decide to go or stay..
I'm an optimist and I want everything to work even if it's not for me and keep that money spreading around like manure--yeh! I know it's not an original line !.

Several years; their advance is very good.
Very few revivals last several years. 12-18 months has become the (respectable) run for revivals.

How long will it be until Nicole Scherzinger takes over the role that she should have taken in the first place?

can a replacement for Leona be eligible for the tony? or does it have to be the performer who started with the show's run.. In a situation where Nicole comes in after Leona Lewis, I could see her nabbing a potential nomination

Nope, only the opening night cast can be nominated. It's sad though that anyone who will replace her, not matter how good they are, will not be eligible
Didn't Larry Kert get nominated for Company even though he was not in opening cast?
He absolutely did. Dean Jones originated the role. The Tony rules may have changed since then.

That's so interesting! I didn't know that! I just found a thread where they discussed Lary Kert's nomination it seems it was a rare exception. https://forum.broadwayworld.com/readmessage.php?thread=926747

Jorge I honestly thought you started this thread. seems like it's right up your alley.
Hope the show runs a while! I'm of the mind that it's one of those titles that deserves to run. I saw the original production with my Yiayia when I was a young child and shortly thereafter with my folks (my dad got us seating on the side of the stage, it was one of the coolest things I've ever experienced!) and no matter what people feel about it - and I don't want to denigrate those opinions, they're certainly valid - I think everything from the music, to the way that junkyard set looked in the original (took a peek on the FB page of the revival, and they knocked it out in the revival too), is "Broadway" in the very meaning of that term.

Cats has been extended and tickets are now on sale to 5/27/17...
Does Lewis have a set date of when she's leaving?

I'm curious what the reaction would have been had these boards existed back then when this happened. From what I've read of the Tony history the rules were more inflexible back then (such as the option to petition for a category change not existing, and thus William Daniels refusing a nomination for 1776 because according to the billing he would have been nominated as a featured actor). I'm guessing it must have been a pretty huge announcement that Kert would be eligible for a nomination.
