For those who are not familiar with Robert Morse, he was one of the greatest comic leading men on Broadway. He starred in the stage version of How to Succeed, won a Tony for that, and revised the role in the screen version. Even though the film may be outdated now, it was one of the best satires of big business for its time. Robert Morse went on to star in the musical Sugar which was based on the film Some Like It Hot, where he played the Jack Lemmon role. That was another triumph
for him and he received a Tony nomination for that. He dominated the stage with incredible energy and talent.
I prefer the stage version of H2$ but the movie version is ok.
Fosse baby. I love watching Tucker Smith (WSS) wearing a business suit and doing that choreo.
And at least five of the Broadway cast recreating their roles.
What a luxury!

Morse also went on to do the one man show "Tru" in which he portrayed Truman Capote.

I loved being in this show and I love this movie. I don't think anyone can beat Morse's portrayal of Finch.
Cheryl, he is also a darling man and about ten or so years ago won another Tony award starring in the drama TRU. He has had a myriad of problems in recent years.........parting with the Hal Prince production of SHOW BOAT before it came to Broadway and leaving WICKED before it came to Broadway too.
He was excellent on the tv series THAT'S LIFE with EJ Peaker decades ago.......and was great as the crossdressing hospital executive in (what was that medical tv show from just a few years ago?)..I adore Robert Morse,,,,,he is lovely. I hope he is well. I ABSOLUTELY LOVED MATTHEW Broderick's revival of HOW TO SUCCEED.........and I would love to see a film remake of this joyous musical. :) Cheryl, thanks again for rekindling some very sweet memories.
People here should give props to Michele Lee too. She was a great "Rosemary". Too bad her numbers from the show were chopped from the movie version, but I love the way she sings "I Believe In You" to Robert Morse on the steps leading up to her apartment.
I didn't like the changes to the show, but the movie wasn't bad. Morse can't sing, but he is very charming.
