Would have been happy to have had someone new but having Hugh Jackman return as host is great news.

I think he was my favorite host yet, so I am VERY happy with this news.

As long as we don't have NPH again I'm good. Would have rather had Suzan Blackwell, but there was no chance in that.

Wow! That's fantastic. The man's a showman in every sense of the word. Can't think of a better host with enough commercial appeal and who actually has what it takes to get the job done right.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"

YAY! I had a feeling it would be someone like Hugh Jackman. So glad to hear it!

I hope his wife gets a personal dresser this time around. That dress and those black clunky shoes were fashion atrocities. Otherwise it's great news and I would think a good ratings boost for the Tonys.

Who cares what his wife is wearing? She isn't the one hosting the show, and I'm pretty sure she can wear whatever she wants.
HUGH!!!!

The ad salespersons at CBS must be wetting themselves!

He's back on Broadway - great news!!
It's been sometime since he last hosted ( 2005) but he has been a big part of the community and will soon return in a very different kind of material ( THE RIVER by Jez Butterworth).

No more smarm, just lots of charm. And class. Pure heaven! Haven't been this excited since the '05 Tonys.
If Hugh can't repeat next year, I'd be very happy if Jackie Hoffman, Mary Testa and Laura Benanti took over. Can you imagine that trio? (Like that would happen, LOL.)

Meh. I'll look forward to NPH's return.
I thought--rather surprisingly--Michael John LaChiusa did a fabulous job with the group parody number for the canceled-Tv-actors. Would love to have him create something like this for Jackman.

The more Hugh the better! I'm not saying he can do no wrong, but I think he'd have to try pretty hard to do so! :)

Remember the medley of about 30 bits of songs which Hugh sang as host for the 2005 TONYS? That wasn't the first time he performed that awesome medley of movie and stage songs - it was put together for his private one-man show for the opening of WynnLasVegas ( attended by the likes of PresG. Bush, Sr., Steven Spielberg, Donald Trump, Elizabeth Taylor, etc.). The arrangements for that medley were put together by Michael John LaChiusa.

That seriously has to be the most ridiculous thing I've ever read on these boards. Perhaps she can lick the faces of each nominee, and you can actually hear a few million people's skin crawl in unison.
