At least it seems we all agree that that revival of ice cream sundae is better than either soup or cake.
Words don't deserve that kind of malarkey. They're innocent, neutral, precise, standing for this, describing that, meaning the other, so if you look after them you can build bridges across incomprehension and chaos. But when they get their corners knocked off, they're no good anymore…I don't think writers are sacred, but words are. They deserve respect. If you get the right ones in the right order, you can nudge the world a little.
So basically the real winner is Broadway in general with ticket sales doing really well for many many shows...extending their lives for some, and boosting their sales for others.
Harvey insisted Lola wasn't gay because he wrote the book. Billy deciding to play the character as he wanted to and publicly talk about it as if it's a good thing to do is another reason he shouldn't have won the TONY. Re-interpreting a character is always interesting (e.g., Bobby in COMPANY - gay, straight, bi...?) but to not follow the author's intentions in the first production is unprofessional. You can have discussions but those happen in the rehearsal room and stay there. From what I read on BWW etc, Billy decided to play his version because he wanted to to play LOLA as Billy. I think the "straight" TV story is more interesting.
So, Gigicee, since this is at least the second time you mention "info leaking", I'm guessing you work for the production. Especially since you just joined the site.
Box office info doesn't get "leaked" it gets released. People that write about it call and ASK. It's just info.
There is no competition as to who makes more money -- but really: will any show stay open long enough to break even and then hopefully, actually make a profit. It really doesn't matter which makes MORE money, or who makes money faster.
If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it?
These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.
