My amateur theatre group is trying to put on a new musical for the next season. We are only 10 actors (5 guys, 5 girls). We have some good singers, some good dancers, and some good actors that can carry a tune. We're Spanish and the problem here in Spain, musical theatre is not as big as in the US. We're looking for a well-known musical that can be adapted into a production with a small-seized cast. For example, we could never do "Tick Tick Boom" or "The Last 5 Years", but other shows like Chicago would draw people's attention (in fact, we've already put on Chicago). Any ideas? Thank you so much!!
A Chorus Line revival played its final Broadway performance on August 17, 2008. The tour played its final performance on August 21, 2011. A new non-equity tour started in October 2012 played its final performance on March 23, 2013. Another non-equity tour launched on January 20, 2018. The tour ended its US run in Kansas City and then toured throughout Japan August & September 2018.
You have the right sized cast for Godspell. In fact, Theatre Maximus in NY licenses a Spanish translation, La Palabra, that would be perfect for your group. Be sure to ask for the director's notes (in English) in order to understand where you're supposed to go with the production.
