Does anyone else find the new video extremely... underwhelming? She looks so uncomfortable.
Omg, no no no, this is so painful. Close your eyes because it's not a terrible song and it's her amazing-as-usual voice... but man, that video is PAINFUL. So awkward.

I tried ^that, and yes. It's a good song now, haha. I really did go "SLAYYYY" during the chorus.

Please tell me that was just a place holder. It's not actually the video for this song??
Wow. So uncomfortable. I could barely watch I felt so bad.
Didn't find it uncomfortable, just boring as all get out.

I really enjoyed Idina's "I Stand" album and was looking forward to this one, but the two songs released so far have been a bit....underwhelming. As far as this video, Idina can be a flamboyant character and it seems like they could have done a lot more than just her standing in place singing....

I like it, it's cute, she probably did it for very little money and she's not trying to be Taylor Swift
omg this video....her voice is fantastic but whose idea was it to have her in one location standing and looking directly into the camera..lol that was embarrassing.
My problem with Idina as a solo artist is I usually just don't buy her singing pop music. She clearly wants to sing pop (and has made several attempts with pop albums) but I find it so unconvincing. When I saw her in concert last year she sounded terrific but even with her Broadway songs she does these poppy arrangements that don't work for her.

She did a Facebook live a week or so of this song with her A Broader Way campers and it was great. She was relaxed and clearly having a ball. I like the song a lot but agree that she seems uncomfortable in this poorly conceived video.

Yyyeeeaaaaahhhhhhhhh no. I don't even know why I attempted to listen, I'm not even a fan really, since I think she's always been super overrated anyway.
That's not even what can called a video, it's like someone just filmed her singing,er...screaming and her moving to the beat. Come on, ANYONE can make that kind of video these days and post it to Youtube. I was bored as heck and didn't make it a minute through.
And autotuned like crazy as usual....yyyyaaaaayyyy
I love this song, but that video is awful.
I can't help but feel like Idina's solo pop career is self-forced and unnatural. I think she has crazy talent, but I don't particularly see her as a natural-born star diva who was destined for this type of career trajectory. It all feels a bit contrived and manufactured. This video kind of says it all.

How can you tell when someone's been auto tuned? I haven't seen or heard this yet so maybe it is obvious... I just assume all recordings are edited to some degree. I'm interested.
It's true, all professional recordings are, to a degree. But when you overuse autotune, it sounds mechanical and robotic. I haven't listened to Idina's song closely, but a good example of overuse of autotune is that horrible song "Friday". Take a listen to that and make special note of how she sounds when she says the title.
Also, this is obviously for comedic effect, but "Autotune the News" takes people who aren't even singing and makes them sound like they are. So listen to that and you can hear how too much autotune is not a good thing.

Yes! BC this is how I feel about her solo music. it's like she really really wants to be a pop star and her recent mainstream success (because of a movie musical, which also had her enjoy chart success) has maybe made her think once again she can be one.
Agree with all the above. She has tried so hard to be a pop singer for so many years and it just frankly feels insincere. It's as though she still isn't sure who she is as a performer or as an artist and is trying to adhere to all these other stylistic expectations. She is obviously out of this world talented and I love her singing Broadway scores but this is just frankly underwhelming and not suited to her abilities.

That high note she *tries* to hit at the end is friggin painful!
"I See You"
Better, but dear God she needs better directors.

I do not think this is better at all. What are these weird videos??? Turned it off after a minute because I couldn't stand it anymore.
I don't think either one is thaaaaat bad.
I've always found her to have a very awkward screen presence anyway. She tends to have kooky popping eyes (if that makes sense).
