^ Is that what you're hoping? Or do you know something?
A little birdie told me something a little while ago. Of course it could always change since it's so far away but I've got my fingers crossed for it.
America Ferrera will be a FANTASTIC Fanny Brice.
Same show, wrong actor.
He IS the greatest star!

don't knock. I'd throw down at LEAST $50 to see that happen.
I highly doubt they're doing FUNNY GIRL with Lea Michele.
First of all, the cast of Glee is going on tour this summer, so Michele wouldn't have the time to do do an extended theatrical engagement during their shooting hiatus.
Second of all, there's a commercial producer attached to FUNNY GIRL (and has been for some time) who has been exploring options for a commercial production as recently as a few months ago.
Because that producer has "pay or play" rights to the show, Encores! would either have to receive clearance that he's forgoing the rights or produce it with him as a co-production, which I don't believe he's interested in doing (because of how heavily City Center would have to legally remain involved if there were to be a future life beyond Encores!)

I've always been curious about Two Gentlemen of Verona. It would be interesting to see the show that beat Follies for best musical then vanished into oblivion, while Follies took a beating but became a legend.

Well, considering Summer Stars rehearses for two, and performs for three, that's five weeks. Their hiatus probably begins in April and ends in early August. If she wants it bad enough, she will find a way to do it.
There also has been no 100% official confirmation of the tour, and no dates have been set, so that could always fall through.
And, somethingwicked, you aren't always right, so I'm gonna wait until something more concrete about either the Glee tour, or Funny Girl happens.

I'd kinda like to see Sutton Foster do ONCE UPON A MATTRESS.
I would also like to see Two Gentlemen of Verona! I know next to nothing about the show and really love using Encores as my way of educating myself about shows.
And Jordan, Sutton in Once Upon a Mattress is an excellent idea.
I'd definitely love to see Sutton in Once Upon A Mattress as well.
Sutton would never sell a Summer Stars show. They would need some much bigger names with her.
Get someone like Carol Burnett (or a well-known actress of a similar age) as Queen Aggravain and there'd be a better chance of selling tickets.
I wasn't even talking about a Summer Stars production, just a normal Encores, 5 performance thing. I love MATTRESS and think not only would Sutton sell tickets, but there are enough other roles to go around where you could get a few bigger names.
But how fantastic would it be to get Burnett as Queen Aggravain?!!?!? Talk about a sell out event! (Or Susan Boyle, either one would work lol)
Is Mattress really appropriate for a regular Encores concert? I believe it's done quite often. But then again, these are the people who did Bye Bye Birdie and The Pajama Game.

It's as appropriate as any other show they do, I'd imagine. Plus it has a large cast and a large chorus which they like and the chance to get a few pretty big names on stage and sell the place out. The last time the show was done here was almost 15 years ago so I'd say a 5 day concert run of the show would be quite welcome.
I don't know if it's really right for regular Encores either. Summer Stars is probably a better fit.
Jordan, Burnett played the Queen in the TV movie version with Tracy Ullman as Princess Winifred. Denis O'Hare was Prince Dauntless, Matthew Morrison was Sir Henry, Zooey Deschanel was Lady Larkin and Edward Hibbert was The Wizard. I, for one, would be in favor of at least Hibbert reprising his role.
But the point/mission of the concert series is to put on American musicals with fantastic scores that are seldom performed. Mattess is really not that rare. But again, these are the people who did Birdie and Pajama.
Oh, I know she did that wretched TV movie, I was saying how wonderful would it be to see her do it live.
I would be very much in favor of seeing Carol Burnett do anything live.
I'd like to see Mary Testa as the Queen. If only she'd sell tickets...
