A logical question, no?

I forget, are you the same person that made up a reason why Xanadu should not be nominated for Best Musical because it'd show America that musicals are gay? I'd search, but it's frankly not worth it.
If Beatlemania wasn't the end of Broadway it's hard to imagine anything else killing it.
This thread does not have the word "Tony" in the title. Therefore, it is unworthy.
No that wasn't me mungo, that was another person who realizes the vital addition to our culture that Xanadu provides.

If Cry Babay wins, it means the end of Broadway
Oh crap scott. You're so right. My bad!
*fixed*
CRYBABY being nominated was the end for me.
Oh wait I forgot THE WEDDING SINGER also got nominated.
You know what would be worse if "Cry Baby" won.... having "Grease" win as Best Musical Revival. THAT would be cataclysmic!!from RC in Austin, Texas
Of course not seriously Higgins.
Have you not seen the main board threads this evening?

I was not impressed with the music from Xanadu. Unfortunately I haven't been able to hear anything yet from Crybaby? Is it available anywhere to listen to?

Well, if where the play came from, which was a mediocre movie (I think I am being kind here), how can something great come out of it? Except for how the actors undertook their roles (which were worthy efforts) and a few other variables, I don't think it was worthy of "Best Musical" IMHO
Oh, no, this could not be the end of Broadway (yet).

It would be the end
of the Tony telecast, because the award is given at the end!

Clever, blaxx. You definitely ROCK on this one!!!
It was a truly awful year for musicals. This is the first year I've actually not cared for all 4 of the nominees. At least Xanadu is smart in its humor. I feel like In the Heights is highly overrated and Passing Strange insulting to the genre. At least Xanadu embrasses musical theattre in a creative, free way. It's my choice to win. We've had crappy Best Musicals before and slower/duller yars than this one.
But to answere your question, yes, theatre row will cave into the grown on Tony night.
I don't get all the fuss over PASSING STRANGE.
because it's "different" ? because it's not real musical theatre? it's a musical. plain and simple.
shows like JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR, RENT, and even SPRING AWAKENING (during workshops) were bashed for not being true musicals and look how they turned out
clearly PASSING STRANGE is different (I know. I've seen it) but I thought it was enjoyable... and I'm very old fashioned - into the whole good ol' broadway musical thing.
am I totally off? perhaps someone can explain what all of the fuss is over PASSING STRANGE
and if XANADU wins, it's not the end. it's the beginning! I'm alive!
I just dislike the music and styling of Passing Strange. I don't feel that it is a bad show. It just doesn't fit my tastes at all.
Yes, if Xanadu wins, all shows will immediately close, and all of the theaters will be torn down and turned into luxury condominiums. Broadway will cease to exist, and we'll all have to get our entertainment from watching Flavor of Lovem 3, because that will now be considered "high culture."
No. STARMITES getting nominated was the end of Broadway.
I saw Xanadu twice and really loved it. Still, I don't think it should win Best Musical, especially not when two of its competitors are a little more substantial and innovative. It wouldn't be the end of Broadway or anything though.
If Passing Strange wins, it will be the end of Broadway.
If In The Heights wins, there will be no excitement or buzz.

Plain and simple, it will only be the end of Broadway if Cry-Baby wins Best Musical.
