No, no! I have to stand up against Clambake.
Reeeeeeeeeeeee-member when we cooked those red hot lobsters...
Why, no, Mr. Snow, I'd completely forgotten, even though it was only an hour or so ago. But thanks for reminding me!
The vittles we et were good you bet indeed.

Without You from Rent. I personally find it incredibly boring and it causes the entire second act to drag for me. I liked it a bit better in the film but I'm still not a fan.
I agree with whoever said Something Bad and all the Wizard's songs from Wicked.
And I know it's central to the entire show, but I can't stand Memory, from Cats.

Offhand, I would say "Perspective" from "The Woman in White". Irritating melody, even more irritating lyrics.
-"That's a cocker spaniel, clear and true."
-"Thank you for the compliment...I was sketching YOU!" *rolls eyes*
And of course, we can't forget how well "charms" went with his "manly, rugged arms!".

To those that say Zoser's songs in Aida include Tim Rice's worst lyrics, all I can is: what about "No Matter What" from Beauty and the Beast? I can't stand that song, and I'm not overly fond of his other contributions to that score, either. The only Rice song from BATB that I like is "Me."

I think "Home" from Beauty and the Beast is ridiculous and long and awful....and I don't know why people audition with it. YUCK

CLAMBAKE!
Yes! I did Carousel a few years ago, and I remember sitting onstage on one of the nights singing Clambake and totally breaking character and laughing my ass off when I realized what I was singing about.
But really, Carousel can get rid of a lot of music, as far as I'm concerned.
If I were to cut something from Les Mis, it would probably be Dog Eats Dog. I don't think it's THAT necessary. That part, at least. That's probably one of the scenes that I think is better in the Student Version.
And if I were to cut something from Wicked, it would be I'm not that Girl. Elphaba doesn't really need any more ballads, and I think it just drags the show on. I know there's other songs that are considered "worse", but I think they carry the story somewhat.

wow...you read my mind. I remember when I was younger listening to Les Miz and enjoying myself and then DOG EATS DOG would come on and I'd be like "ehhhh" it's just not really needed
BRAVO!

Miss Baltimore Crabs for sure! When I was in Vegas and saw the show they cut it out and it was JUST FINE without it!
Jack: For your information, most people who meet me do not know that I am gay.
Will: Jack, blind and deaf people know you're gay. Dead people know you're gay.
Jack: Grace, when you first met me, did you know I was gay?
Grace: My dog knew.

Calvin, having performed in a production of Carousel, I must say, I love the Clambake number!!
My picks:
More I Cannot Wish You - Guys and Dolls;talk about bringing the show to a screeching halt.
Something Bad, I'm a Sentimental Man and Wonderful from Wicked

Calvin - I don't think this is the first time we've agreed on this HORRIBLE song. Clambake is THE worst song Rodgers and Hammerstein ever wrote. It is pointless, and good God, WHO RHAPSODIZES ABOUT BEING FULL LIKE THAT!!!????

about half of "dancing through life" from wicked. I wish fiyero could have a decent ending to his only solo as opposed to trailing off so that nessa and boq can do their stupid little parts.
something bad and sentimental man are too much of easy targets
"a man doesn't know" from damn yankees, i hate meg's songs with a passion they are so different from the applegate and lola numbers.
without you- not live so much as on the recording since without a visual it just d-r-a-g-s o-n f-o-r-e-v-er

"The Music of the Night" from The Phantom of the Opera
"Something Bad" from Wicked
"That Face" from The Producers
"Stars" and "In My Life" from Les Miserables
"The Greatest Star of All" from Sunset Boulevard
"Bill" from Show Boat (That whole scene is too contrived)
"Sing!" from A Chorus Line
"Topsy Turvy" from Fiddler on the Roof
"Little Lamb" from Gypsy
"Mushnik & Son" from Little Shop of Horrors
"Many a New Day" from Oklahoma!
And many others.

Calvin, you crack me up. Thanks for the laugh.
You make a good point about Clambake, but I really enjoyed being in that number.

I guess I can see that taking it out doesn't ruin the structure of the show, but More I Cannot Wish You I think is my favorite song from Guys and Dolls!
Anyway, my answer would be "Think of Meryl Streep" from Fame: the Musical. Possibly the worst song ever written for musical theatre.

How can you take out I Know Where I've Been when it's the 11 o'clock number?
Sorry, that one just suprised me.
Actually, some people consider "Without Love" to be the 11 o'clock number. However, whether it's the true 11 number or not, I just dislike the song. It doesn't get me energized, if that's what it's supposed to do, and if it's for sentimental or emotional messages, it just doesn't do it for me. Not my kind of song -- very boring, and I found myself falling asleep during it during the actual show.

Wow - I sure am glad a lot of you aren't show doctors, because some of these songs are absolutely vital to the story/character/plot though you apparently don't realize it.
I mean it's one thing to not like a song, but it's quite another to say you could just cut "Bill" from SHOWBOAT, or even "Music of the Night" from PHANTOM and have the show make the same dramatic/musical impact.

Let's Walk- Light in the Piazza. I hate it. i dont know why. my friend loves it. i just cnat stand it. it makes me throw up a little
"A Sentimental Man" and "Something Bad"- Wicked. i just dont like them
"Put on a Happy Face"- Bye Bye Birdie. I know everyone loves this song. but it has no importance to the plot...alberts not a happy character. and who cares about some little girl thats sad.

But without "Clambake," there would be no "That Was Delicious Clam Dip," and I don't know if my life would be worth living without it.
I could do without "Master of the House" and its reprise in Les Mis, but then, I'm not a Les Mis fan, in any case.
