Has anybody seen it? From the video preview, it looks pretty fun.
Yes, I saw it on February 4th. I went in thinking I was going to *hate* every second of it, and I ended up enjoying it a lot. The music was excellent and so were the performers. I'm not sure it is worth $85 or whatever their top ticket price is right now, but it is definitely worth checking out if you can get a cheap ticket.
I've Seen it...and it seems like a lot of other threads have been made on this & a lot of people on here have seen it as well.
Anyways, awesome show, you might not go in expecting to love it, but you most likely will come out Loving it!
I saw it a week ago and now I am going for a second time on Saturday...amazing show!!
I definitely recommend In the Heights. While I didn't find it to be the most revolutionary show ever, it was original, fresh, and entertaining. The songs are catchy, and the music is so versatile that I don't see how you can come out of it not liking something.

Anyone know if they're going to make a cast album of it (or have)? I really love the music.

Are there any kind of rush tickets for this show? Or should I just go with the Broadwaybox discount?

I didn't like what I saw from the video preview, but I've read so many posts that people love the show. And it caught my interest from the NY times article last week.
I think I'll test my luck and see if I can score a cheap ticket

I saw it. It was kind of campy, a little hokey, needs work. A lot of work. It was very Rent uptown-esque. Not theatrical gold. Good performers, though. The location wasn't very prime, either.
They're taking orders for the cast recording, suggesting release in mid-April.
however the show hasn't been recorded yet!
theres rush two hours before the show i believe.. $25
has anyone actually gotten the rush tickets, if so where are the seats?
eeeeek. So, I hate to be negative, but I have to be honest when I say I was REALLY disappointed with In the Heights.
I really wanted it to be good and I was holding onto hope for a little while in act 1...but it just didn't hold my interset. I don't think it has to do that I'm not from washington heights or am of a different racial/socioeconomic class...it was just very predictable, slow and most of the songs were just these asides, having nothing to do with the plot or the characters' relationships with each other. All of the songs were the same. I walked out of the show not being able to remember one melody or some title, except for one, alevanza, b/c the entire song was basically repeating the word over and over. it WAS a beautiful vocal arrangement, though. I dont know, i was disappointed.
anyone else?
On a positive note, the actors were great, the set was AMAZING and the overall production of the musical was superior to most other off broadway stuff. It did have some funny moments, but as far as great musicals go, i'm not sure how this stacks up against the rest.
I didn't like this show when I saw it.. althought it WAS previews.. I liked the idea of it. I thought it had some good moments... the 'blackout' moment. They also had some sound problems or rather balance problems.. also my seat was completly broken... but it was full so I was like tense the whole show.. I told the usher afterwords.. he seemed as uninterested as possible.

I was taken somewhere that I have not been taken to in musical theater for a while. I am in love with this show. I live in Boston but you will see me often. Brilliance...sheer brilliance and insane talent. Wow. Thank you. I gave the show major props in my blog!

Kudos to the everyone in the cast and crew of "In the Heights." I can honestly say this is the first show I've seen in a long time (on or off-Broadway) that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Such a wonderful show with SO much heart. Makes me want to see an Indian version that takes place in Jackson Heights. The dancers were all stunning and Lin-Manuel Miranda, you've got it goin' ON man.
