No, no, not at all. I think it’s clear from my posts I’m the opposite of a troll. I always post in good faith. Just because I have the meta cognition to be learning from this at the same time doesn’t make me a troll.
And I still believe that many of you deep down would agree with me about many of the points I make, in hindsight. I really don't believe many of you would argue today that actually I'm on the 'wrong side' on the Great Comet Fiasco or the Kecia Lewis Patti saga. But I invite anyone to now claim that actually, Kecia Lewis was right about Patti. I don't think any of you - at least the well known posters - would honestly do this because you know and I know that it's irrational to do so.
The one area I think you have a problem with, and maybe this is where the tipping point was - is Trump - such as me reinforcing the counterproductive effect that some of this behaviour is having on your own cause. I concede this is a touchy subject and I have some regrets here but I have learned a lot. But it also has highlighted to me strongly why a dissenting voice is necessary. I don't believe many here read widely or watch debates widely on the state of USA political issues, you prefer to be with your own tribe. That is fine for comfort but it doesn't really get to the heart of what's actually happening, who is winning the debate, who is losing the debate, how to win the debate. I would not be surprised if many of you get your political information from your social media feeds and CNN/MSNBC etc.. while proclaiming at the same time that MAGA are being brainwashed on their social media feeds and Fox News without realising that you are both in your ideological chambers. It's quite amazing to see.
I have social media feeds on different platforms that are both left wing and right wing so I know exactly what people are talking about on all sides, and often neither resemble reality. They are both extremist cesspits. Sensible moderate voices have been excluded for rage bait, extreme behaviours and misinformation. It's happening on all sides.

What I mean is, it's clear for everyone that has a brain I'm not some kind of Broadway Flash troll. I suspect this is one reason people don't block me (I'm always surprised about this, people 'hate' me so much but then seem to read and reply to all my posts?). I also suspect this is one reason I truly annoy some people too because it's a lot easier to dismiss a troll.
It's a more uncomfortable reality if someone in good faith has done the research that is telling them that Trump might win again, and then was right about it. This is why quite frankly I believe that even if you hate it, I actually did a service to you all. You had the privilege of someone that is not a trump supporter warning you that he might win and giving you the reasons why. You aren't going to get that from your own tribe that never leaves the village who is just telling each other what they want to hear to feel good. Would you rather live in the real world or a fantasy world?

I know language evolves, but what does "troll" mean now?
Anyone who has a different opinion to Highland Guy is labelled a troll.
I believe binau to genuinely hold these views, as much as they may irk. By the standard definition of “troll" (as I know it), I would not class him in that category.

Binau, you have a very high opinion of your own critical thinking skills and write everybody else off en masse. Of course that is bound to cause friction. You can sound extremely patronizing. You make broad assumptions about where "we" get our news. I suggest you may be very wrong. I for one value true independent journalism. It still exists.

I agree with you. I'm not perfect. I also make mistakes so I don't want to suggest my critical thinking skills are infallible. I believe I once said the only good thing about a Trump 2024 presidency I can think of is Tulsi Gabbard in the cabinet who could prevent us from going to war. Well that was stupid of me, wasn't it? But I do want to own my mistakes too, I do want to be reasonable myself. I would be the biggest hypocrite ever if I didn't.
I also think one of the difficult things about this board is there IS a wide variation of posters that I have to face all with their different personality styles, quirks and skills. Imagine you're getting attacked at all sides, some people want to have a discussion genuinely (if I recall you are more of this style), some just want to call people names and vent, some people are absolute horrors rude and genuinely scary (e.g. Sutton). So it's a bit of a difficult tightrope to manage and hard to manage and I would be lying if the particularly poor examples didn't spark some emotions in me myself that influence the tone of my posts, but at least ideally my preference is for a civil conversation and I'd be more than happy for someone to call me out for being patronising if the other person(s) were being civil (people often aren't). It's also why if I did just make a broad unfair claim about people on this board it is because I'm thinking of the worst examples here which aren't representative of everyone.

Oh yes, I guess if I was to explain it a little more, some people in this thread liked to joke I have mental illness. Well, I wouldn't go that far but I would say there are parts of my life that have been very difficult. Broadway became one of my first real escapes from this, and the great divas have always been like therapy to me. So of course it is upsetting to start to see the horizon come closer and closer. As you would feel if you loved any real person in your life. I have been surprised about the lack of empathy of some in this thread because I thought that of all places, this would be a group of people that understand. I thought the whole point of this board was to revel in these kinds of niche interests and loves, but I suspect some are just triggered because it's me.
