Those are interesting casting choices for Mimi.
Bless Aaliyah, I think she would have made an amazing Mimi, same goes for Mya.
I wonder if Mya was even considered, I'm sure she could more than handle that role.

I'm sure she could sing it. Whether she could act it or not, I dunno, but I'd like to see her try. I'd even like to see how Fefe Dobson would be. Hehe.

Quick question since its not on the CD, I am right in assuming that "And its Begining to Snow" has been cut?

If you mean "Christmas Bells", then yes, it was cut.

Just so people are aware(ish) it seems, if I remember correctly, that everything they recorded is on the CD, but that does *not* mean that everything they recorded is in the movie. So, there's stuff on this CD that didn't make it to the film. re: Initial opinions on RENT soundtrack

Emcee,
Do you know something we don't? I really hope none of what is on the CD is cut.

I don't know what the cut is, no. But I do know that there is a pretty sizable cut, about which people may be up in arms.

So, you know, be prepared.

I have my thoughts about what it may be, but I'm trying not to have *all* that many preconcieved notions. At this point, it is what it is, you know?

Where did you hear this from? Not that I don't believe you, I'm just curious.

I didn't hear anything about that at all...that doesn't make sense, why would they cut anything from the cd?! I hope that's not true, because...that would suck! But just for the record, Em, what do you THINK was cut?!

See, let the speculation fly! I shouldn't instigate what frustrates me, I know, I know. Then again, I'm in the same boat.

I don't want to say what I think! I'm trying to be open about it and tell myself that I don't have an idea of what it may be, though I have *definitely* thought it through.

Um, check your PM's, Mandi. Barring any changes *since* I heard this, it is legit.

Are you thinking it's portions of songs? Not necessarily the whole song? That could be incredibly cheesy though?

Okay, here's what I'm *thinking.* Seriously, this is just honest speculation. I don't know any more than what I've said.

I was thinking originally that maybe it was like... the SoL reprise or something. But would people really be up in arms about that? Then again, they'd be up in arms about anything somewhere along the line, I know.

So then I thought it had to be something more consequential, that people were actually attached to. I thought *maybe* Will I? I'm inclined to assume that no additional dialogue scenes have been shot, so my thinking is that it's not anything that really... explains anything. Like, the Tango tells us about Maureen's character. Glory tells us about Roger's. Those are things we need to know to feel for the characters and be invested in the story. They'd need dialogue to replace them in order to tell us those things, I figure. I mean, maybe not Glory, but could they cut Glory? Not if they want me to survive this movie.

I think it's Halloween.

I'll be laughed at when/if I'm wrong, but I hope I am!

The soundtrack is about 1 hour and 36 minutes in total. Columbus said that the movie is about 2 hours and 10 minutes.

I think I would seriously cry if they cut Halloween, because I love that song. But like you said, it's just a guess. I guess we'll find out soon enough. *shrug*

I've been thinking about all of the footage we've seen and pictures as well and connecting them to songs that I know couldn't be cut. As well as thinking about the songs that reveal too much about the plot or characters to be cut, which would make the movie confusing.
I thought SOL B too. But I figure that's going to be played over a scene anyway, so that doesn't make sense.
Halloween does make the most sense considering all of these factors. That kind of sucks but wasn't that one of the songs originally thought to not make it in the film way back when?
Not that I'm happy about it (if that's it), but Emcee you had me thinking it was like SEVERAL songs and I was in a bit of a panic.

Ew. I hope they don't cut HALLOWEEN.

Also. I'm glad I'm not the only one who can see Aaliyah as Mimi. I also think Mya would've made a fine choice. If Rosario sang that, than Mya could've sang that 10x better. And I don't even want to think about how good Aaliyah's vocals would've been. It's sad, she had 8 movie deals in the works when she died. So by now, she would've been quite a name in the movies - not to mention huge in music. I miss her. re: Initial opinions on RENT soundtrack

We've been given so much access as to what's been going on during the making of this movie, I almost want to believe we woulod have been told in a blog or whatever if something from the soundtrack was cut...I know people would be mad but, everyone's been pretty open with what's been filmed etc. that maybe Anthony was told something would be cut, but now it wasn't? ::shrug:: Oh well, it's not like anything will stop me fro mseeing the movie anyway!

I have no idea. I was under the impression that it was one song. But, I'm as in the dark as anybody else there.

All I know is that if Glory goes ANYWHERE (I can't see how it would, but hey, I worry) I will hurt somebody.

ljay...I had no idea she had that many movie deals in the works. It's such a shame what happened; my heart was broken when I heard. And her vocals as Mimi would've been amazing.

Mya, I think, totally has the right vibe and absolutely the look, but I'm personally not that big of a fan of her voice.

And yeah.I really hope they don't cut "Halloween."

I found this on IMDB, which is kind've ironic if true. Considering we were saying Aaliyah & Rosario were similar.

Was the first choice to play Valerie in Josie and the Pussycats (2001), but had already signed on for the lead role in Queen of the Damned (2002). Rosario Dawson eventually got the part.

And yep she had 8 movie deals. The movies we knew of were the the 2 & 3 sequels of the MATRIX, "Sparkle", and "Some Kind of Blue" (which sounded amazing.) Otherwise we really don't know what else she had in the works. But it was announced it was about 7-8 movies.

Has anyone heard of the young singer Tiffany Evans? She reminds me of Aaliyah.
