Wasn't it Arthur Laurents who said, "Nameless Chorus Boys should be f**ked and not heard"?
Oh, Loge. I know for a fact they do.

All right. Game over. You keep believing what you need to believe in your Gumdrop World with Cotton Candy Clouds and Lollipop Stop Signs.
well, now, Joey ... they should at least get to be heard while being fu*ked...
I knew that would get YOUR attention, Catsy...
typical...
Well, I believe little of what I read unless someone presents proof. You're right - END OF GAME! I'm over discussing the stupid topic of shills.

Rematch! So if the PROOF is something that has to be read???? That makes it not proof?????
Ok, quit talking in riddles. What I said was clear as day. When I see proof that lil' shills are actually paid to roam these boards, then I'll believe it.

How is that supposed to happen? You expect to meet them in person where they will present you their pay stubs?

"I think the "stunt casting" thing is intended to be used in the event that a famous person is cast in a role that they are less-than-qualified for." if they are famous...*sigh*...they are probably qualified for the role...otherwise, they wouldnt be famous. umm...one exception: Paris Hilton. not that i can diss her...i mean, im just a nobody, and shes famous, so i cant really say anything can i...ok, i;ll shut up now... peace

Well Loge, since it's an industry fact, I guess what you will have to do is either get a job in an NYC production company or press office or become friends with someone in either and see/ask for yourself. I'm sure there are tons of people on here who could give you "proof," but that would also entail saying a bit too much about who they are and/or what they do and perhaps they care more about their jobs then "coming out" on this message board to orientate you to the real world. So I guess you're on your own. Funny though, I suspect that even if you were given "real proof," you would still deny it and continue to live in your own world. As far as shilling in general, I consider shilling to be anyone connected to the show talking it up. They don't necessarily have to be the admins in the press office (although they do quite a bit of it), they could be the stage manager who wants this show to run as long as it can so s/he doesn't have to go job-hunting anytime soon, it could be the girlfriend of the leading man ("oh, he's soooo dreamy") who doesn't want her boyfriend to have to go job-hunting again anytime soon, or it could be friends (I got an email just a few weeks ago from a friend who had a show opening and asked everyone on his email list to go on boards and shill the show-I didn't do it though as much as I liked the show and the friend). I think a shill is anyone who is possing as a general audience member and talking up a show but in reality has something to gain or knows someone who has something to gain from the success of a show. There are, of course, shills who make it clear that they have a connection to the show, who make their allegiances known. I really respect those type of shills and love hearing what they have to say.

Way to go Marc... I personally love "Hairspray" and Have been wanting to see it for a while and around here shows get bashed quite a bit especially "Hairspray" and "Wicked" for being shows they that are "fluff"... But i personally thing Hairspray is awesome and I hope to see the show soon...
if they are famous...*sigh* they are probably qualified for the role...otherwise, they wouldnt be famous.
add this to the "most ignorant comments I've ever read in my life" list...

Whoa, I must have missed that post. Fame does not equal talent. I mean, just look at most of Hollywood.
Marc Shaiman rocks:) There are too many stupid people in the world.....and on this board.
I would just like to say that on Friday night the audience was so totally in love with the show that they had trouble getting people to leave at the end.. it was sooo nice to see such an enthusiastic audience they absolutely adored the show ... that's what matters that the people watching it now love it as much as the people who saw it for the first time a few years ago!
No matter what the show is or who the cast you are always going to have people saying oh that cast members isn't as good as this one was.. I'm guilty of it I have my fav hairspray cast and like them above all others but that's what's great about this country.. its aloud.. but that doesn't mean other people wont love what they are seeing now.
