Lets hope there aren't any more injuries this production has been keeping under wraps.
NY Labor Department Inspectors to Visit SPIDEY Rehearsal in Response to Stunt Injuries

This inspection should have taken place before any actor was made a guinea pig on this set.
Riedel says the show will be at least delayed a week!
'Spider' spins out of control
what if they(inspectors) come in a say they can't do any of the flying because it's too dangerous?? should be interesting.
I think it's clear they will be canceling at least a week of previews, whether or not they use the "unsafe rigging" as an excuse.
Now the rumors are for a JANUARY opening? Ridiculous- they just need to open the damn thing and get the actors out there performing. That's the only way people will buy tickets- drawing the focus from the insane chaos people THINK is going on the having an actual tangible presentation of a musical. How can they sell a musical which people only know as being in total bedlam?
Does there come a point when The Hilton just says "enough is enough" and just evicts them?
Wouldn't that point have been before it became the Foxwoods Theatre? :P
Well, you know what I meant.
Doesn't look too good with this latest NY Times report on the inspections today.

Hasn't this been dragging on long enough? Just close the damn thing and be done with it.
This is just getting ridiculous.
Hopefully, the 60 Minutes piece on it will air before they put this out of its misery.
I do hope the score is preserved so we can at leat listen to what is probably a good score & the only thing worth salvaging from this affair.
The wire work in the show is clearly like nothing that has been attempted on a Broadway stage before, of course tech problems were going to happen, it's just a shame actors were hurt.
If they have to delay a few previews then big deal, as long as things are safe. Many Many shows cancel a few previews.
Feel free to come back and taunt me if I'm wrong, but I absolutely do NOT believe anyone would ever just shut the show down before it even previewed let alone opened. Even with terrible reviews, that potential for worldwide productions and profit is enormous. no no no no no way. Not with all the money poured in already. We are going to see something. It may be a lot later than they promise, but it will happen.
If it doesn't, I'll not only be surprised, but also supremely disappointed.
I am just so anxious for this to open and see videos and read some reviews. The pictures Taymor showed of the set look amazing!
Well haven't they technically already delayed 300+ previews?
The show announced and then had financial problems because of bad producing errors by someone who is no longer with the project, it happens, people on here make it sound like such doom and gloom. The amount of shows that run in to finacial problems is huge (Godspell revival springs to mind) but because this is a high profile show people make it sound like it's the end of thr world.
This is not a normal show, its breaking new ground in terms of budget and stage craft, im hardly surprised its had teething problems
No it not a normal show. This is a colossal cluster fvck of problems since day one that has pissed off it's customers who have had to be refunded their money so they could buy their tickets again, how many times? This should have been given the ax a year ago. It used to be the fun thing to do to make fun of Spiderman, now the joke isn't funny anymore. Just seeing the signs in front of the theater annoy me. Suck it up Taymor and let this bitch DIE.

Jordan-
While I agree with EVERYTHING you said, keep in mind that we are a very small percentage of the clientel who will see the show. The majority of people who will buy tickets will STILL buy them, even though the show was supposed to open in Feb.... even though the show was supposed to open Nov 14th.
At this point I feel we could write Broadway musical about the "making" of the show.
^So true!
It can be called "[Title of Show]: Spider-Man" or maybe just [Spider-Man]. I vote Susan Blackwell to play Julie Taymor! Hunter and Jeff can be Bono and The Edge. Heidi...hmmm....she can be the investors? She can play them all, like the actor who plays the Dentist in LSOH.
Or maybe a [Title of Show] youtube vid parody at least? :)

Ok. I am just going to say it. . .
All this whining and ax-grinding about Spider-Man is really grating and unnecessary. Get over it, don't go, stop caring. . .the show and the community doesn't need you.

"While Taymor has staged individual scenes, she's never actually run the whole show from beginning to end. Transitions from scene to scene -- key to the flow of a musical -- haven't been mapped out, let alone staged.
"We're less than two weeks away, and we have no idea what the running time is going to be," says a source."
Is no one else baffled at how they haven't even mapped out the complete staging yet? Wow........
I had hopes of seeing this in December. Oh well...
