It Just clicked in my head that the character of "Karen" reminds me of Sutton Foster.
Bombshellreminds me alot of "Thoroughly Modern Millie". Karen was in the
chorus and than was made the lead in Bombshell just like Sutton in
Millie.Katharine also has the same body type as Sutton and Their Voices are
kinda Similar. Is that on Purpose or is this Just coincidence?

Posted: 3/26/13 at 11:53amWell, I thought that their Sutton Foster was Jenifer Hudson's "Broadway's sweetheart" character. I don't think their initial intentions were to represent Sutton with Karen, I think they just wanted to represent the classic broadway Cinderella story of the chorus girl turned star, and it came out looking like Foster.

But Sutton Foster had Broadway credits dating back to 1996 prior to "Millie" in 2001... Grease, Scarlet Pimpernel, and Annie right? She was in the ensemble and understudied.
McPhee's character had ZERO professional theatre credits to her name.
I honestly don't see it at all.

Posted: 3/26/13 at 12:10pmI'm sorry but I couldn't read your post because there were no spaces between the sentences and too many random words were capitalized. And it's supposed to, not suppose to.

Posted: 3/26/13 at 12:43pmI don't think so. Sutton Foster is very muggy and Karen has about one and half facial expressions in her bag of tricks.

I always thought Karen was an alto because of her lower range, and Sutton is definitely a Mezzo.

Posted: 3/26/13 at 1:32pmI'm on the opposite side, rosscoe(au), I think Sutton Foster if anything is beaming with personality (too much for some people) whereas poor Karen as played by McPhee only goes from bland to blander.

God you people are the worst snobs.
Anyway,The comparison is totally accurate IMO.Not 100% obviously but I think there is a connection.Intentional?who knows.Plus, "Let me be your star" is pretty much "Not for the life of me".
