I think it's Laura Osnes'. We know that.
This post is turning dumb.

Posted: 4/9/08 at 4:07pmAs much as I want Sierra to be nominated it could most likely be I think it is between O'Hara, Lupone, Butler, & Russell and nothing against Patti, but I hope either Jenna or Patti win it since in sense they recreating iconic roles in two putlizer prize winning musicals and for these shows its only the second time they been on broadway whereas gypsy had its orginal production and three revivals and the tony voters could see a little bit of other Roses in Lupone's. from the reviewer's standpoint though Lupone's take is a fresh one. This one be a interesting race and even Patti has a more than a great chance of winning it, anything could still happen and all we can do is speculate.

I really hope Patti gets it, she's a grafter, she has had a remarkable career, times of sheer brilliance and some serious setbacks, the second TONY would mean everything.
In Gypsy she triumphs, this is a career defining role. She gives everything on that St James stage. And the audience soaks it up, I hope the Tony panel are blown away. I was....

Posted: 4/9/08 at 5:02pmI think Kelli is going to win. Some of the Tony voters really really don't like Patti.

"I think Kelli is going to win. Some of the Tony voters really really don't like Patti."
See, that's the "personal" stuff that blaxx mentioned the other day. I haven't seen South Pacific yet, so I don't have an opinion on Ms. O'Hara's performance, but nothing I have read by professional reviewers or anyone on this board suggests that she even remotely deserves this Tony over Ms. LuPone. If she loses this award, it really will be "personal."
I know that's the reality of the world we live in and at the end of the day, it's just an award, but just thinking about it makes me angry.

Sleeper2--you're talkin' outa yer hat.
"Some of the Tony voters"--that's like talking heads on tv who say "Some people say..." It's unsubstantiated BS
"Some of the Tony voters" love her too.
Some vote for all sorts of reasons.
But what you say on an anonymous message board is meaningless.
#137re: Is Lupone Tony Bound?

I know of which I speak.
I'm just sayin'.... you need to look back no further than LuPone's last trip up to the nominee platform. She got raves as Mrs. Lovett but LaChanze snatched the statue due to an overwhelming sympathy and likability vote.
It's not just about reviews, folks.

I agree Sleeper.
The theory that the best reviews get the TONY is bunk.
