they are clearly chastising Liza's Headband and Jordan.
i was kind of surprised there was no whoop. not a single speech from any of the three leads who are leaving. strange.
as for singing along to the da's...when I saw it I didn't feel it would be appropriate to sing along but I think I hummed along. my boyfriend and my best friend were on either side of me so I'm sure they didn't mind some light humming.

yeah i am sure they're boo-hooing and thinking they're awful schmucks because someone DARED to have fun along with the cast.
hamilton fanatics think broadway fanatics have a stick up their ass -- posts like this are why. people sang when the cast asked them to sing and WHAT F*CKING STUPID SCHMUCKS, LOL.

Clearly this was not an evening at the theater. This was the Beatles at Shea Stadium. This was Young Sinatra at the Paramount. This was a phenomenon, and now it's over.
Those who saw it were lucky enough to be there. Those who didn't and feel the need to judge those who were...well, we're all lucky you weren't there.
@ninedaves on Twitter said Rory wants people to sing along with him- can't link from app or idk how, so stop whining.
Just to be clear, I wasn't talking about people singing along when they were asked to. I was talking about how these performances are now in general, with people needing to be as loud as possible to show how much they "love" the actor(s).
^^^ I know but if people think that singing to that song is disruptive, now they know how the actor feels. Besides, I always felt confused by that song bc he says "everybody" but no one ever sang. Lol
I made it!!! With a great seat too! Will type something up when I get home. Maybe even make a new thread!
No need. You can just post it here.

Wow, y'all have topped yourselves with the dramatic butthurt. I was there tonight, and everyone around me was polite as hell. No singing, no inappropriate shout-outs, barely a cough or a sniffle. Could hear a damn pin drop during the silent parts. We contributed when called upon to do so, and gave all the energy and support we could muster to the cast. I had a lovely time, surrounded by lovely people.
Cute little stories you guys make up, though. Jealous much?

The VERY best cast for this production. So lucky I was able to see it tonight. Anyone should have known going in there that all of their family and friends were going to be there, plus the ultra fans so of course it was going to be loud. It was beautiful, enjoyable, loud (at only the appropriate moments), and full of love. Amazing night.

Why would anyone be embarrassed? Being an adult sucks and there are so few things that make us excited like when we were younger. I'm not embarrassed that I was sure I was going to marry John Taylor when I was 14 and I'm not going to be embarrassed for loving a show even if I do outgrow it.

"YAYYYY!! So glad! I was taking my mom to see the New York Spectacular tonight--she eats that stuff up and I saw Hamilton tickets for $650 rear mezz row F at 7:50pm. I was surprised there were tickets in the 3 digit range. I planned my night out with mom on purpose. I didn't want to be tempted in buying another ticket for tonight! Hope you had a memorable evening!
So I was around the theater before the matinee today, checking the prices on StubHub, VividSeats, waiting for tickets to drop, because even on the day of the final performances of several main cast members, I figured matinee would be cheaper/easier. Unfortunately prices never dropped low enough/I didn't pull the trigger quickly enough when prices did drop. The people in the front of the cancellation line said they had "only" been waiting since 11pm the night before.
So I left. Very disappointed with a feeling of sadness in my stomach because I knew that was it... I had to work in the evening and I had just lost my last chance. I had given up my shot, if you will.
For the rest of the day I casually monitored the ticket sites to see what the prices were doing... and some started to get into a reasonable price zone. I figured if I was going to blow a ridiculous amount of cash on a Broadway show, it might as well be the final show of some of the most beloved cast members. I sent a text that I knew was going to inconvenience some of my co-workers... that I had to switch shifts last minute and there was nothing I could do to avoid it.
I was already feeling extra irresponsible for switching up my work shift just for the possibility of getting a ticket to the show, and that feeling was exacerbated when suddenly all of the reasonably priced tickets vanished at the same time. So then I did something I swore was a sucker's bet... something I never do... I turned to Craigslist. Of course Craigslist is filled with scams and fakes, and I would be surprised if there was a single genuine ticket in the whole bunch... but desperate times call for desperate measures.
I found a listing with photos of the actual hard tickets with today's date on them. I texted the guy (and the text didn't turn blue like an iMessage... a warning sign to me that someone is possibly using a burner phone) to ask what the deal was. He said he had waited on the cancellation line several times and had like 4 different tickets in different sections of the orchestra. He wanted $2,100 each. I said I could do $1,200, and if he got desperate, he could text me closer to the show. Of course he didn't move the ticket for $2,100, and by this time I was already at the theater, so I figured I'd at least meet the guy and at the slightest sign of a scam, I could just walk away.
I met the guy and his buddy, nothing seemed overtly out of the ordinary. I told him I would give him $1,200, and he would have to walk me INTO the theater with the ticket, and only then would I pay him. Both guys were visibly sweating and I'm thinking to myself "this is such an obvious scam, I can't believe it". But the guy agrees to walk me into the theater. So we walk towards the entrance, thinking the guy is going to make some excuse at any moment since I'm basically calling his bluff. He hands both tickets (he was seeing the show too) to the guy with the scanner at the door, he scans them and then.... they were both legit tickets! I couldn't believe it. I paid the guy and went to my seat which was a beautiful orchestra seat. I honestly was speechless that I had just scored (well, I guess I will count dropping $1200 on a single ticket a "score" a ticket to the final OBC performance of Hamilton on CRAIGSLIST of all places.
The feeling was electric inside the theater. There were reporters and paparazzi outside. I saw Spike Lee, John Kerry, Jane Fonda, Aaron Paul and Jennifer Lopez inside. People went crazy as soon as the lights went down. Every time an actor walked onto the stage for the first time, the crowd would cheer and clap, but not enough to actually disrupt any songs... except of course when LMM makes his first appearance during the first song after saying "Alexander Hamilton" the theater ****ing ERUPTED. There was a standing ovation for at least a solid two minutes. The music stopped and Lin held the lyrics until the cheering died down, it really was something to experience. There were maybe 4 other standing O's throughout the rest of the show, but none as insane as that first one. I didn't hear anyone in the crowd audibly singing along like I've read some people complain about. The rest of the show was, of course, incredible. People crying everywhere. The show ends, everyone comes out and bows, LMM does an extended curtain call (as seen here: https://www.instagram.com/p/BHq_OJIAbtx  but other than that, nothing super out of the ordinary to indicate it was their final performance.
I left and it was pouring outside, and there were a ton of people waiting behind barriers, even across the street, I guess to try to catch a glimpse of a celebrity or cast members. By the time I got home I was soaked but I was still grinning ear to ear. Honestly I feel like I got a bargain for what I paid based on what I got to experience. It really was a very special night.
Wooooooooooow! You went through Craigslist?! The one place one was always warned to stay away from! Amazing that it worked out! I'm glad you made it and have this memory of the show. My desires on what row and with which cast members to see this show have all been fulfilled for me. I'm so happy you fulfilled what you wanted!

Wow. That post was just... Too much. We have officially crossed into RENT head obsession with this damn show.

So now this monumental moment in the history of the universe has come to an end. I wonder: how is the earth still spinning on its axis? And how are our heads not spinning from the hysterical buildup to this non-news non-event, which seemed to last longer than the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic eras combined, though far less palatable than any of them.
There was a song in Ankles Aweigh that offered the most appropriate advice on this subject: "Skip the Buildup."

In what way was that true? There was easily something you could have done to avoid it: show up at work and do your job. Or failing that, owning up to the real reason you were not showing up at work. I guess satisfying your own wants was of greater importance to you than not causing needless inconvenience to others.
"I was already feeling extra irresponsible for switching up my work shift just for the possibility of getting a ticket to the show,"
You should have felt that way, and you should still feel that way.
Now are you going to tell your co-workers where you actually were last evening?
